Finally guessed right on which side of the field this guy was going to come in from. He was following 12 hens. 8 of them were sporting beards from 1" long to about 8". 22 pounds, 11" beard and 1 1/4" spurs.

Hey guys! Who is starting to get some good trail cam pics? I've found a nice bedding area where a ton of does are bedding down at all times. I'm excited to get out there and scout during what is going to be the nicest day of the year.

VARSITY
This makes 3 years in a row the big buck has died right before season opens. 2 years ago it got hit by a car, last year 2 big ones locked up and died, and again this year it got hit. 4 or 5 years ago a big on got hit by a damn semi. And we're talking country roads here.... a few cars a day use the damn thing.

What kind of ammo you using? The scope is why I'm curious. Slugs on a turkey can't leave much edible.

Nice bird either way.

I'm shooting Winchester Longbeards 3 1/2" 2oz #5 shot with a Carlson Longbeard XR choke. This gun and setup is new to me. Found out with my older eyes and the tight pattern it shoots the scope helps me out a lot. It's made by Bushnell and has what they call a "circle x" reticle and is 1.75 to 4 power. With the zoom and reticle it has, I also found I don't need to haul my rangefinder and binoculars when chasing turkeys. This setup dropped this bird like a ton of bricks at 35 yards with no flopping. It hit so hard that it broke his leg when it folded him over. I'll post up some pics of the patterns it was shooting when I can find them Otter

Here's my pattern pic Otter. That's about 80% of the shot in a 10" ring at 40 yards. When I shot at 10, 15 and 20 yards the pattern was so tight I felt the need to try a scope on my 870.

Lightly used Remington 770 chambered as .308, with Ledsniper 6-24x50 scope... What's the most you would pay?

Ok, now I see it. Very effective and props. I just never seen that setup before.

The gun brand new runs around $330 and the scope brand new runs around $300

I just found the scope on Amazon.com for $106

So if it was me I would see what the person was asking..then offer around $400..if he wouldn't do a package at that price I would see if I could talk him out of the gun for around $275-$290 then just order the scope

Edit
I'm see the scope priced up closer to $500 on different websites..I don't know if there is different versions or if the price gap is that big

Sounds fair. I'm more interested in the scope than the 770. Although the 770 will be fine as a beater. It's all from his dad who passed away recently, so I figure, what the hell.

Now he's got a Sig P226 MK25 that his dad bought recently, and that's what I'm really wanting... That would be sweet!
