This.

Let's not act like CJ from 2022 is the same player as CJ this year.

He's gone from sack guy dominating games to 'taking up double teams'.

He's had a COUPLE games this year where he looked like the CJ from last year, but the consistency is not there.

Hope he manages to 'Frank Clark' in the playoffs. Not expecting much.

Time to move on . . . .

Nobody gives a **** what you want. Giving up a first round pick (while taking away the possibility of drafting great, young talent) while also giving Aiyuk a huge contract is not how teams paying an MVP quarterback stay competitive. Go jack off and play Madden. The rest of us will talk about options that make sense for the long-term excellence of the franchise.

If you don't get an elite season in a contract year, how many elite seasons do you think you will get when he he is 30+ and has a large guaranteed contract?

People are confusing his overall impact with sack numbers. Notwithstanding the crap game last week, without Jones , the DL would suck.

I think Veach has to make cap room to tag him and pair our 1st to move up in the draft to get a WR.

Jones+1st should be good enough to get us a top 3 WR in the draft!

Probably need to shell game that and even then it's going to be tough.

You're probably not going to find a team that's in the top 10-15 picks (for a top 3 WR) who also wants to take on a 30 yr old DT and a massive contract. That's a limited pool to deal in.

Now maybe you can get him dealt for a pick and package that pick with our 1, but I haven't seen anything from him this year to suggest he'll net a 1st in trade. At this point you're looking at a mid-2nd as a more likely possibility.

A late 1st and mid 2nd isn't getting you into the top 10.

Jones just hasn't had the year he needed to have to carry the value we hoped he would. Not when combined with his likely contract demands.

This feels more like a Von Miller for a 2nd and 3rd situation (and even that was for a rental and no long-term cap obligations). I don't see us getting a haul at this point. It just doesn't seem likely that there's surplus value in his contract.

Honestly at this point all they're getting in return is a comp pick.

He's been an elite player that puts up elite seasons. If not for Aaron Donald being in the league the same time as him and being one of the best defensive players of all time, then Jones would be the best DT pretty much every year of his career. Even with Aaron Donald being around Jones should have 3 1st Team APs.

It is amazing that you think paying someone like Aiyuk would make us not as good. This team is missing one thing and one thing only. A WR like Aiyuk. Its cost us at least...AT LEAST 3 losses.

He’s going to erupt against the Bills. If he has fewer than 2 sacks I’ll be shocked.

You’re talking about trading a first round pick and paying a guy a huge salary. This team is going to need a DT next season and the ability to continue to acquire cheap, young talent. Your idea is stupid and shortsighted.
