The last team to attempt a threepeat… the 2005 Patriots… were 8-5 through 13 games.
The fact that Andy has the Chiefs at 12-1, with everything that comes with being the two-time defending Super Bowl champions… and with the added challenges of injuries to key players… is COY-worthy. |

He's already dead in my mind. All eyes on Shula at this point. If he coaches through the end of his contract, that's (at most) 60 wins in 5 years. 12 wins/season is almost dead-on his average. And he's average about 13/season since Mahomes took over. Gonna be some significant changes over those 6 seasons, to be sure. But it's very much within range.

Just getting caught up here.... so in the Andy Reid appreciation thread, we're sucking off Sam Darnold and HC for beating 6 consecutive teams with losing records and not having beaten a team with a winning record since September.... while going out on a limb by saying that QB might do worse when playing better teams every week and dealing with no LT and like 8 injured receivers.
We should definitely keep diving into this.

The thing I keep seeing posted is that Andy is "saving the good plays" for playoffs. That's why we keep squeaking out these nail biters, because he's not really trying to score a lot. I don't believe this narrative, as this has not been who this team has been. We aren't a hide our plays and surprise you in post season, crushing all in our path. KC games for opponents used to be 30 points was required for you to even have a chance in the game. It didn't change from regular season to post. This team lately plays down to even the worst teams, for years. It's not a ploy it's just how they operate. So yeah. If they go into this post season and unleash an offensive firestorm where once again you need 30 just to get a ticket to the gun show, then I'll acknowledge that yeah, Andy went all year, locked up the 1 seed, home field, while playing possum with half his offense on IR. The reality though, is most likely going to be more of these close games, generating insufferable game threads from nerves being shot, and everyone whining that the games are rigged when they win off some stupid mistake made by the opponent.

It was already proven two years ago. It's documented fact. It was written about. When we went to Cincinnati Spags played vanilla D-line. The Bengals were completely unprepared for what he unleashed on them in the AFCCG. I'm surely something like this isn't taking place on offense at all!

Anyone who disagrees (which is essentially almost everyone) clearly is some sort of idiot and you are somehow the genius for your biased point of view. You somehow have this idea that Andy is a failure and only Mahomes bails him out. When I highlighted 5 legendary coaches and how every one of their championships came with a HOF QB you tap out with a generic: "I haven't followed their careers. I have followed Andy's career in full. I can tell you he's doing the exact same shit he's ALWAYS done. The critiques of him then are the sane critiques we have now Now if these coaches were the exact same people when they got their legends, then they're up for the same criticism." It's a cop out on your part as it refutes your narrative. But since it's clear you have zero desire to discuss things reasonably in an Andy appreciation thread, I will exit this conversation with you and you can live in your echo chamber of one. |

Do what you gotta do. Why don't you regale us all about how Philly Andy DIDNT squander 4 of the greatest rosters in Eagles History. Continue with the tales of how Alex Smith was good enough to get us leads of 28, and 18 points in the playoffs, but he wasn't good enough to hold the leads, causing two of the greatest NFL post season collapses in history. Tell me the story of how is merely COINCIDENCE, and nothing more, that once the greatest quarterback to ever live became the starting quarterback for the Chiefs, that the worst finish in 6 years is overtime losses in home AFC Title games. Why, I bet if we'd stuck with Alice Smiff just one more year, HE would be the one with 3 rings on his hand. Andy was just 1 year away from figuring it aaaaallllll out, no more one and dones, and poor Alex, cursed by the football gods, was banished to Washington to suffer the most horrific leg injury we've seen, forced to battle for his leg, and eventually his very life. Tell me how it's just coincidence, and irrelevant minutae that Andy Reid is the only title winning coach in nfl history that took over 20 ****ing years to get it done. Don't be sad, tredadda. Andy can sit right up there on your pedestal, no matter how many iron clad facts about his pre Mahomes failures that are carved into the NFL lore stones that I talk about or critique.

I thought Wallcrawler himself said he has an irrational hatred for Andy Reid.

Sheesh. Next thing you'll be sucking off Arthur Smith over Reid for getting Russ to play decently with the supporting cast he has. And just remember that Charlie Weis was doing that kind of shit with Matt ****ing Cassel before it was cool. 28 and 10 is the new 27 and 7 |

Basically, once Andy won a Superbowl, the Stans came out in droves. Some made apology threads to Andy, oh I'm sorry I ever doubted. The appreciation thread was made, and these Andy nuthuggers have seemingly erased from their memories tge very reasons that they were doubtful in the first place. Many people didn't even want Reid to coach in KC, despite this narrative now that " Andy was always great, Andy always dragged slop to greatness!!" It's just wierd to me. That superbowl post season run, Andy really didn't do anything different than he ever has, besides trotting 15 out there to run the show. Team came out flat and went down 24-0 against a brain dead Bill o brien Texans team. Mahomes makes his speech, puts the cape on a d drops 28 in a quarter, never looks back. Down 10 to the Titans. Mahomes has arguably the greatest running play of his career at tge end of the half to take the lead. Down 10 to the Niners, after a shitshow first half of Alexian playcalling, 3rd and forever Mahomes calls his shot with Wasp that turns the entire game. Quick tempo keeping SF guessing, Mahomes throws 2 tds to take the lead. If Andy Reid did not have literally the greatest player that ever lived, the Chiefs don't win these games. But they do, first superbowl in 50 years, and all of a sudden, Andy becomes this infallible legend, when in reality he's the same dude he's always been, he just had Superman land on his doorstep. People don't Ike to admit that. We get the yeah but Belichick, yeah but Walsh, yeah but my grandma. Andy had a top 5 statistical passer in McNabb. He had a ferocious defense supporting him. He squandered 4 of the best rosters in Philadelphia history with mistakes from the sideline, but because McNabb isn't wearing a gold jacket, that's the crutch that the Stans cling to, absolving Andy of his Buffalo Bills lite failure. Being 3rd in yards, 4th in tds, and second In playoff wins only to Tom Brady in that span with 9 to Bradys 14 just evaporates because no gold jacket? Sure. McNabb wasn't Mahomes. That's why those teams lost. I don't hate Andy Reid. I just recognize who he is. He never gained some moment of clarity after a huge loss, he never changed his philosophy, shit even WITH the best player on the planet he still punts for 17 yards of field position. Lmao. Game thread squeee about "Why aren't we running the ball?" It's like none of the people posting that understand who is calling the plays. Patrick Mahomes should be the one to induct Andy into the Hall of Fame, because he's the reason he's going in as a champion, over being passed over because he won a lot of regular season games but flamed out religiously in post season.
