Winter storm Blair

How is Blair affecting you and yours? I put heat lamps in both of our wells and put those square styrofoam boxes over all outside spigots. Extra blankly on me beehive.
Daughter is driving from Manhattan home to garden city. Almost home. Will be a relief when she gets here.
Will have to water a few animals by hand.
Looks like the hutch area could get a LOT of ice. More than an inch.
Hope you all stay safe!

So my relief arrived last night for work. And today apparently, he couldn’t get his car out of the lot, had to get a ride home from a maintenance guy who drives a big jacked up truck. His relief couldn’t make it in, so maintenance man had to pick up another coworker on her day off to come in and cover the shift.

And I’ve got three foot drifts in my driveway. Oh, and I live off a major street, so the plows have been through piling plowed snow at the foot of my drive.

I’ve been out twice trying to dig myself out and I’ve barely made a dent while trying not to give myself a heart attack. I honestly don’t know if I can dig myself out by myself in time to make it to work tomorrow.

Saw this kind of snow routinely when I lived in NYC, and it was always actually pretty fun. Bars would be open, everyone would get boozed up and the city would shut down so no work. I haven’t seen this kind of snow in Kansas in probably 40 years. Snow forts were epic that year. Not as much fun as an adult.

This sucks.
Snow is not worth your health. assuming you do not have a snow blower.
See if you can flag someone down with a plow as they drive by. Offer 30-40.
But all of us of a certain age should not be shoveling snow

Be careful out there if you're over 40 having a heart attack shoveling snow is more common than you think.

I shoveled snow today for over an hour and I went as fast as I could to get a zone 2 aerobic workout in...since the gym is closed. Wore my workout watch and everything lol

I went waaay into the street and was carrying the snow way back into my yard. Then kept going over places that barely had any snow. My neighbors had to think I was losing it.

Been there. When I was in Sidney we got a 2 foot snow with ridiculous winds and 8 foot drifts.

Had a couple 8 foot drift events at my house too. I got myself a little tractor because I'm not good enough to shovel multiple tons of snow.

Been on the other side of that. Had a big tractor in town and dudes kept trying to flag me down. I accepted no money because I thought if I accepted money I might have to accept liability if I broke something. No clue how that would hold up, but that's what I did. I did it for old ladies that stopped me, and a restaurant owner I was acquainted with, but tried not do it for anyone that could possibly be a ****. I didn't want any calls about YOU TORE UP HALF A SQUARE FOOT OF MY GRASS YOU ****! or YOU PILED THE SNOW IN THE WRONG PLACE MORON or sprinklers, or hydrants, especially not electric or gas service or curb and gutters that I can't see, or or or or or.

Just be aware that anyone doing the work has to worry about shit they can't see under the snow. If there is damage, just be gracious.
