Good for Tyreek but it was wise to not pay that much when you're paying Mahomes.
Eh - Tyreek was entering his prime and had claim as the best WR on the market. He wanted to re-set the market.

The Raiders ****ed us with that deal they gave Adams, otherwise I think the Chiefs go ahead and give Hill the top of the pre-Adams/Chark market.

But that was just a bad time to be trying to get that deal made. WR market went up by 20% and he wanted to be a part of that. It wasn't an unfair request by Hill - the Chiefs just elected to go a different direction.

Jones, OTOH, is being an idiot. Was being an idiot. Will almost certainly continue to be an idiot.

I don't think pride will have him taking less than Quinnen Williams and frankly I wouldn't give him the Williams deal.

He had his shot - he said no. He hasn't played to the level of last season's ask so I'm not sure what the Chiefs would gain by giving it to him this season. It's a real bad sign if they do.

Not only is being an idiot he also seems to be mailing it in to some degree. He was a complete non factor for 3 quarters Sunday. I'm not sure how any team can look at his season and say he's worth what he's asking for.

Chris Jones is the Josh Allen of defense.

He's a Rollercoaster guy. Super high highs, and utterly inexplicable lows, with the capability of just outright fisting you with an utterly braindead play. You tolerate the lows hoping to get back to the highs, because when he's on, he's absolutely monstrous.

Unfortunately he's been mostly a regular season hero for the better part of his career, and he's approaching the dreaded age 30.

There's literally no way at this point he's retained. He showed his ass and sat out a game, and he isn't doing what he was doing last season, in all fairness due to the improved play of Danna and Karlaftis, with Omenihu contributing as well. Our first round pick is waiting in the wings to get snaps.

The money will be spent to fix this utterly putrid receiving corps.

Unless Chris Jones flips a switch and becomes an absolute game wrecker through the stretch run and post season, this guy is on his way out.

Just another guy who's playing a lot closer to his 2021 level than his 2022 level.

That's not to say he's been bad - he just hasn't been elite.

2022 makes a fair bit of sense as we move beyond it a little bit. We kept asking "Man, how did the Chiefs win a SB in a rebuilding year?"

Well - they got career seasons from their 3 best players at the same time. All of those guys played at pretty much the highest level they're capable of playing for an entire season. When you have 3 guys playing at a 1st ballot HoF level for a season, that's gonna do a LOT of heavy lifting for you.

In the process it may have papered over some roster flaws that we'll need to address this off-season.

Yup. Jones went into this offseason gambling that 2022 was his norm and it was an outlier.

He is still really good but he isn't $30MM good, debatable he is $25MM good, and he isn't going to improve at this point in his career.

After this season, you let CJ walk and use that money to re-sign Sneed and go get Tee Higgins. Use your 1st round pick on the best WR or DT on the board and your 2nd round pick on the position you didn't take in the 1st. You get the offense scoring 29 pts. per game again next season and you can afford the defense to fall back a few spots.

That GB game felt like a classic 48-27 type win if we had our offense back.

We left a lot of points on the field.

I'd say it's debatable that he's $20MM good.

I don't see any way to get to $25 million.

Is he presently a top 10 interior lineman? It's tighter than you might think, IMO.

He's a hell of a lot closer to Hargrave than he is Williams at this point, IMO. And he'll be the same age Hargrave was when he signed for 4/$84 million (which is realistically 2/$41 million).

And honestly, I still don't think I'd give him Hargrave's deal. It's just time to move on. Change your approach to focus on depth across the line and pass rush from your edges. Omenihu can provide some 3rd down interior pressure if he kicks inside.

I don't prefer Higgins but I agree with the plan overall.

I'd add drafting a developmental G on that list for the 3rd or 4th rd bc 2025 will have Creed and Trey as free agents and Thuney making $26 million for the 2nd year in a row seems like it isn't happening.
