With the beginning of a new year, it is time for the 2012 version of the Royals Repository Thread. We've got Hosmer, we've got a 2011-dominating Gordon, we've got Moose, we've got hopefully a killer bullpen, we've got a stereotypical slow slugging DH, we've got easily one of the best defensive shortstops in the AL, we've got a promising catcher in Salvador Perez. Hell, we've got offense and promising prospects galore.

We do not have starting pitching.

Oh yeah, we've also got this:



Get ready for, (as of January 2012 anyway), one of the most confusing puzzles of a baseball season in recent Royals history. Will they suck? Maybe, I don't know. Will we be given a year of 0.500 baseball? Possibly, I don't know. Will they win the division and go to the playoffs for the first time in 27 years? For the first time in a long time, it could happen, I don't know. 92 losses, 92 wins, or anything in between would not surprise a lot of us.

Everything goes here except Gameday threads and really big news. If a giant story breaks, the Royals achieve some awesome milestone, or we sign/lose a highly significant player/coach/mascot/whatever, then it might also deserve its own thread. This being Chiefs Planet, please do not clutter the board with new threads about trivial Royals news or you will only annoy those who come here for just Chiefs football. If you aren't sure and its not a Gameday thread, it goes here.

What sort of stuff often goes here? SPchief explained it well, so I'll just copy that:

If you locate something of interest.. ANYTHING.. deals on apparel, best ways in/out of the stadium, giveaways, great stories from this season or from seasons gone by, rumors, trades, anything.... feel free to post it here.

I stand by my answer because the results, wins and losses, have been abysmal. Six years (now going on seven years) into his tenure, the standards for evaluating Moore should be pretty clear, and his record will define him.

With our luck we will move Myers and not get much out of it. Wil becomes a stud and Hosmer never figures it out. Scary part is that is probably all it would take to set us back from any progress made in the last 4-5 years.

Coincidentally, Dutton has just put up a story saying the Royals have flat-out said they will not trade Myers for Dickey. Its gotten to the point where they are still keeping in touch with the Mets in case the price lowers, but they are moving on to other pitching targets.

This is sometimes why it sucks having great prospects because teams will often key in on that specific player and not consider anyone else. It's ****ing dumb.

The Royals (and a few other teams) have met with Brandon McCarthy. He says he is willing to sign a 1-year deal to prove he has recovered from brain surgery.

That is probably a risk worth taking. his 2011 and 2012 looks really good. (not a whole bunch of strikeouts, but he walks nobody, and gives up very few home runs)

This might be our 3rd pitcher (McCarthy). If the doctors clear him, I'd be happy with signing this guy, keeping Myers, tossing out Frenchy, and going to war against the Tigers with that team.

I don't think any Royals fan is upset losing Joakim.

I do wish him the best though, for sure.

It'll be kind of cool seeing Soria in the playoffs next year. Wierd though.

I could definitely live with it.
Santana/Guthrie/McCarthy/Chen/Smith
By the middle of the year you should have Odorizzi/Duffy/Paulino as backup options.
By the end of the year you are looking at Lamb and hopefully Monty/Dwyer pulling their heads out of their asses.
