Big 10 Report: Conference Realignment
A source in St. Louis familiar with the situation told NewsCenter 16 Thursday afternoon that Missouri will leave the Big XII and soon join the Big 10. Other schools expected to follow the Tigers are Syracuse, Pitt, Rutgers and Nebraska.
Many have speculated that such an expansion would include Notre Dame but ND athletic director Jack Swarbrick told me today that the Irish prefer to stay independent in football and in the Big East for other sports. Swarbrick said maintaining football Independence is such a part of what Notre Dame is. He went on to say the Big East is a great partner for the University in other sports. "We do have to monitor what is going on," Swarbrick said. "There will be significant shifts. "Hopefully we can navigate them by keeping our football independent and keeping our Big East affiliation because that is what we care about." The move of Syracuse, Pitt and Rutgers to the Big Ten from the Big East could categorically change the landscape of the Big East itself. Thus, what Swarbrick is referring to when stating the University must continue to monitor what is going on. The interview with Swarbrick was done before the late afternoon announcement. http://www.wndu.com/sports/headlines/92447574.html Last edited by Mr. Laz; 06-10-2010 at 02:57 PM.. |

Yes.
One more win because MU played no one in non-con. Bleh. No, you tied us. I never said exact, I said there wasn't a significant difference. And there isn't. One game doesn't make a season. |

Anyone remember which teams played in the Big 12 championship in 2008? It was OU from the South, and I am assuming Missouri played one half and Nebraska the other for the North. Is that right?

Is this spat indicative of the smack that MU and NU will be volleying towards each other when they are principal rivals in the new Big 16 Conference? If so then it isn't acceptable. Step it up.

Wait a second, it looks like their was actually a three way tie in the South. How did they divide the championship game up then?

Your specific words were "If Mizzou was so much better, why did they lose to KU."
That's the argument you are trying to invoke. Regardless, we know that Missouri is better because the teams finished with identical conference records, Missouri had a better overall record, and Missouri whipped the dog piss out of Nebraska on the road. Were Missouri a 2-9 team who beat you, such an argument is fair to make, but given the relative symmetry of records, a head-to-head match up is a pretty clear indicator. And when put head-to-head, it was a prison shower scene.

You are right, but that's what bad weather, bad coaching, and a rivalry game will do for you.

I really hope Rutgers ends up with an invite with a larger Big 10 expansion. Being left out of that money and being stuck in a decrepit Big East would be bad news, though I suppose the ACC might gobble up what's left of the Big East.

What you guys can't seem to acknowledge is that Nebraska did improve as the season went along. |

Um, excuse me, but this thread is no longer about Big 10 expansion. Take that shit to another thread.
