****Official 2010 ChiefsPlanet Mock Draft Thread****

Welcome to the 2010 ChiefsPlanet Mock Draft.

We have some new owners this year, so here's a quick run-down on the rules.

Each team will have 24 hours from the timestamp of the previous pick to make their selection. If your pick is not made within 24 hours, the next owner is free to make their selection.

The draft order is now final, with the exception of possible compensatory picks. As in past years, if the NFL announces an official list of compensatory picks BEFORE we finish the 3rd round, I'll add them in. If not, the draft order currently listed will remain. Any trades made in real life will NOT change the mock order from this moment on - personally, it's just too much work, and you run the risk of a pick being traded in real life after it's been made here in the mock.

If you think there is any chance you'll miss your pick, please try to send me a PM with a prioritized list of players - I'll select the highest priority player available from your list to keep things moving.

Please try to check in at least once a day, if not several times daily. We've never had an issue finishing 7 rounds in 6 weeks and I don't expect to have a problem this year - but it's up to you guys as owners to stay current.

When making your selection, please post the name, position and school of the player (follow Hamas' lead, he knows the drill - the correct format helps greatly when updating the header) and give a quick blurb about why you selected that particular player. Doesn't have to be a novel.

I'll be in class from 11:00 - 2:00, but I'll log back in to put Hamas on the clock at Noon.

Have fun fellas.

Hamas,

It's pretty well-documented why I like him and his upside. I didn't bag on your pick, when it's almost a lock to be Bradford, but I digress.

It's pretty obvious I think he's a talented player or I wouldn't have selected him for the Jags. I'm sure the same applies to you with Clausen for the Rams. Difference of opinion, perhaps, but I don't have the time or energy to defend the pick to the fullest degree. I usually do an overview of the picks, once the draft is over.

Regarding, Dez Bryant...

Dude, he's a big, fast, strong, and a sure-handed WR, who also excels on special teams. He produced at off the chart levels in college, even including the suspension. What more do want? He's a close as it gets to adding a solid weapon on offense.

I'd take him or Berry.

Our board should have these players as our top 5...Bradford, Suh, Berry, Bryant, and Clausen.

Blech. Well this puts the Donks in a shitty situation.
  • There are no linebackers that I like in this position other than Brandon Graham, and I hate taking a rush linebacker this high with the risky conversion rate. And McClain is no longer Top 15 material to me.
  • Denver *could* use Dan Williams at nose, but they just signed Jamal Williams. I could get a potential starter later.
  • There's no quarterback I like at this point and only one receiver in Damian Williams, and he doesn't have the amazing upside that might justify a pick this high.
All these players are fine and all, but I want something that justifies this pick.

The best player on the board, and I mean it's not even close, is USC's Taylor Mays. I absolutely love this player, and I'm going to stay true to my board and go Taylor Mays, controversial as it may be.

Brian Dawkins is 36 years old, and Taylor Mays needs a little development. I want Mays at the locker right next to Dawkins, and taking Dawkins' job by the end of the year. The Broncos secondary is getting too old anyway, and the only youth on hand was their horrendous second-rounder last year.

This pick is bound to be a reach for a need, or a pick that I can actually be happy with myself over.

The Denver Broncos select FS Taylor Mays, USC.

With the Donks going Taylor Mays, Miami can't be happier. While LB is always Big Tuna's favorite, Rolando McClain would be tempting but they can't ignore the NT spot. The best NT will land in Miami Trick. Not to mention I draft one of my favorites in this draft.

Miami Dolphins select Dan Williams, NT, Tennessee

San Francisco is on the clock.

I actually didn't know why you like him, nor had I seen your take on him. I was honestly wondering what you think he does that makes him worthy of the pick.

If I didn't know, I wouldn't ask.

Also, note that this isn't a mock of what will happen, but what you would do. I picked Clausen for that reason. I asked why you would do that.

Thanks for the response, even if I totally disagree with the evaluation.

If he Pollards Cassel, it would be worth it.

Good pick, BTW.
