You asked for a player that made an impact his rookie year and I gave you one. Are you changing the question to make a point? If so, what is your point?

Based on expectations, Dorsey sucked this year. Whether it was him, the coaching or something else - we don't know yet.

How did Dorsey suck? REALLY!

So the Rookie Dorsey is an improvement over the previous tackle. I'm not saying that Edwards is good or even average, but he was an upgrade over a veteran. He did not bust.

Based on YOUR expectations.

Anyone with an ounce of common sense wouldn't expect a kid who is playing out of position and getting double teamed because he's playing next to Jason ****ing Babin to do any more than he did.

I guess guys like Sapp and Haynesworth were disappointing too.

OK, I agree with you. I still think that they're giving him something easier to do at first because he's a rookie. This past year was used to learn the defensive schemes, get used to the game, etc. This offseason is now used to better his technique because the easier things are 2nd nature.

A: Sure, I believe that there has been dialogue, James. I just don't think it's been to the point that has resulted in stopping Pioli from pursuing this opportunity. Furthermore, one of my other feelings with Pioli - and this is just a hunch - is that he's sort of hit the ceiling here in New England. I'm not sure there is much more he can do in his role. That's why I think he'll ultimately end up in Kansas City, where he can expand his horizons a bit, assuming the sides can hammer out a contract.

Get...Herm...the ****...out of the way. Assuming he's a "sticking point" in this negotiation.

Most fans don't have the foggiest ****ing clue how to watch DL play, and his numbers alone are better/comparable to the rookie years of Sapp, Haynesworth, etc.

Name the last DT that was an IMPACT player in his rookie year.

Defensive linemen take time to develop.

If you think Dorsey was a disappointment, you had the bar set too high, IMO.

Sure, it's tough to evaluate rookie DT play. As a unit, they were the worst in the league. Allocating blame among the various players and coaches for the putrid performance is tough, also. Nonetheless, given the performance of the front four as a whole, I don't see how anyone cannot be disappointed with the whole lot of them. And you're kidding yourself if you think Dorsey would go # 5 or higher in a redraft of the same players.

I guess on the flip side, we'd be wrong to be impressed with Albert and Flowers...since it's too ****ing early to do that.

Good point. The only thing is that Albert was changing a position, so everyone was ready to give him a little more leeway and didn't expect him to come in with barely any experience and be pretty freaking dominant. I don't have an argument for Flowers though.

How often did he collapse the pocket? Did he stuff the run? He was part of a unit that was the worst in NFL history as well as Chiefs history. A top 5 pick and supposedly best player in the draft is supposed to elevate those around him. He was part of the problem. Does it mean he can't turn things around, no. To say he had a good year because he has a few tackle stats on a team that gave up around 5 ypc and couldn't get off the field is an abuse of stats.

It's too early to pencil them in as pro bowl starters for the next 5 years is probably a better analogy.
