Guys, it's not really about the injury HEALING.

It's already HEALED. It's not about worrying he'll REINJURE it or anything like that. This is a different deal.

The issue is that for many athletes, AFTER HEALING, they do not have the same explosion and flexibility in that knee as before.

It's not like an ACL or an achilles or whatever. It's not about healing. It's about "how does it function now?"

Knowing that Reid and Burkholder dealt with patellar tendon treatment and recovery with both Buckhalter and Graham gives some confidence they know what they’re doing.

I couldn’t find anywhere where Brandon Graham tore his patellar tendon. He had an ACL then had microfracture surgery…but couldn’t find anything to confirm the patellar tendon tear. I know Reid was asked about it in his press conference but…

Sure, you could move one guy to a different spot on the line, but I think you keep your 1st round investment at LT and trade Moore.

Teams will have seen him be somewhat credible as a starter for two teams and two offenses by that point. He signed a 2-year deal with us, so trading teams would have time to reach a longterm extension. He would probably get us the equivalent of a 2nd rounder?

I get that stability and insurance on the OL is what we're gearing towards, but moving Moore over to a different position doesn't necessarily grant us that stability, and it would only be for an extra season. I think at that point you keep drafting and developing tackles the way most teams do.
If Moore is playing outstanding at LT there is no way you trade him away no matter how good Simmons has looked in practice. They thought Kingsley looked good enough in practice to start, but turned out to be too raw. You can never be certain that practice is going to translate into game play.

That’s where it’s coming from. Reid letting on there was more to the injury than the ACL.

Right around that same time Nate Allen also ripped up his patellar tendon and made a full recovery.

All guys suffered similar injury under Andy and Rick.

Dude I've read all of the same posts here that you have, I get where you're coming from

What I'm angling at, is that he may have to re-learn how to play the position to some extent, he may need to learn to compensate in some unforeseen way and we need to be patient with him

Throw him into the fire at camp for sure, just wanting to make sure he's 100% comfortable before the ultimate test

If Moore plays well and Simmons realizes his potential, you move one of them to right tackle and get rid of the walking penalty that is Jawaan Taylor.

Reid said that Moore can play both tackle spots. This is what I hope will be the long term plan.

I understand what you're saying, but if that's the case, then this was a terrible idea.

The only way this was a good pick is if he's able to plant, move, and extend like he could before. If not, he's not an NFL Left Tackle.

Luckily the injury was on his left knee, so when he’s at LT, it’s on his kick-slide leg, not his anchor leg. ProFootballDoc talked about this Thursday night being a benefit to him.

If Moore is a stud and slides to RT to take over for Taylor long term, we hit a grand slam.

Yes, but regaining strength and flexibility in his kick-slide leg is also critical. A big part of his success on film is based on how good an athlete he is and how well he moves.

And the kick-slide leg has to anchor a bit when he cuts off a corner and someone tries to come back inside.

If Simmons is back, though, and this works, I could see Moore moving to LG unless Suamataia has really dominated the competiton.

Would this make him strictly a LT? I know that is the plan but it Moore pans out at LT they may want him to try RT.

If Simmons is cleared and his knee/movement looks fine, he’s winning the job. No way is Jaylon Moore beating out this kid pre-injury based on talent alone.

With all due respect, you are delusional! You want to see a low first round ROOKIE at left tackle coming off of injury START AT TACKLE. On top of that we just spent 30M on a left tackle. And coming off a season where Mahomes took a beating because of bad LT play.
