I’ll always love Alex Smith
I had forgotten how spectacular he was at times for us.

The next person who posts a thread about Alex Smith should be banned. Can we make one thread? ***Alexsexuals Repository Thread where we talk about not getting 3rd downs***

I'll take it just the way it turned out. No complaints, thank you!

As it turned out the timeline worked perfectly. I'm sure Andy Reid had this all figured out by day one. Pick the kid in 7th grade from Tyler, Texas to play QB who's best sport right now is baseball. Right when we figure out Alex Smith can't take us to the promise land bam - trade up for him.

Never really hated or loved him. Just saw him as what he was. Yet another retread QB that was nothing more than a game manager. Posters that sang his praises and stated that he was the Chiefs answer for a Super Bowl title got nothing more from me but pointing at their post and laughing.

He was an integral part of building a winning culture here
So when Mahomes took over, he was at the helm of a team that was already accustomed to winning more often than not... that counts for a LOT |

lol the negative memories are flooding back.
Who can forget that classic Alexual defense: “He is what he is” What the **** does that mean? Are you just saying words to say words? You sure do repeat that a lot. Is it a verbal tic? Do you have Tourette’s or some shit? |

But Andy Reid was much smarter than that obviously.

Why the **** is this even a conversation?
What, we are going to rewrite history with the benefit of hindsight? In 2013, we were exactly 30 years from the last time this franchise drafted a first round quarterback. The people that were upset were absolutely justified. So the actual circumstances didn't align at that very time. So what? They finally drafted a QB in the first round. We've all seen what that produced. These old days of mediocre retread quarterbacks were ended. Forever. |

My point is, no owner or coach in the NFL is going to allow you to run a roster into the ground to execute this strategy. You'll be fired before it comes to fruition.

Andy would have helped Geno put it together early and the team would have had roughly the same outcomes imho. But he would have turned Thigpen into the hall of famer he was destined to become (before the Curse of the Skeleton)!!
