Must Watch Series

All this talk about series, how network TV Sucks, and how hard it is to find quality shows, and some excellent shows that fly under the radar, I need a comprehensive review of all the series I need to see.

For good entertainment, I would be willing to buy DVD sets. But I've recently picked up HBOGO by kiping it from my parents, and recently got Netflix and Amazon Prime.

Here is a listing of shows that I currently own or have seen all the episodes of. If it isn't on the list, just assume I haven't seen it.

Spoiler!

Here is a listing of shows on my list to watch (mostly due to this thread)
Spoiler!

I work a ****ton, so it is hard for me catch a series while it is on to get it on the DVR, but I recognize the entertainment value and am willing to go after the Must See shows. Accordingly, I'm not necessarily looking for anything that is still running. I'm up for watching stuff that has run its course.

So what say you, Planet? Which shows should I see?

UPDATED for the shows I've seen recently.

Had most of the day off and binged American Primeval on Netflix, directed by Peter Berg who gives himself a cool, yet foolhardy, cameo

All six episodes are outstanding, the attention to period detail was superb and it tells a story worth telling about the old west... those were lawless days, you could damn near get away with anything if you were smart

Finished this last night (Episode 5 & 6) and thought it was very well done. Enjoyed it very much.

I watched the first episode and maaaaaan. The paaaaaaacing. It's real slow.

I get it -- early episode and the beginning of mythology that ends up spanning eons. It couldn't be too terribly rapid.

But phew, it was hard to get back into it.

I'll get there at some point, I suppose. But it's not a page turner for me at the moment.

Keeping with the western theme, I'm one episode in on this Wyatt Earp/Ok Corral docuseries on Netflix

Narrated by Ed Harris, with excellent live action playing out the true story... for all of the reading I've done about this subject, still didn't know half of what the actual story was

For some reason I was thinking it'd be a dull retelling of the same old story using mostly old pictures etc, but no its a fascinating look back at that era with solid actors and sets etc

Imagine this, $6000 in 1881 money is a 180k today

Season finale of Silo was pretty good up until the last 10 ****ing minutes and they ruined a perfectly good season finale. God damn pointless shit.

So is Silo worth watching then? Does it kind of ruin things? I started the first episode the other night. Wasn't 100% sold on it but I could see where I might like it. Anything that is post apocalyptic is kind of a easy sell for me.

Oh it's 100% worth watching. The first season is A+, but the 2nd season seemed way too slow, but it did a nice job of some character building and getting you to care about the people. The 2nd season finale was great and I guess the end was some big reveal and a really important character was also revealed and that excited a bunch of the book readers, but as a non book reader it seemed pretty pointless.

Watch it though, because the first season is amazing and i thought the second season was pretty good, but just a bit slow.

Night Agent on Netflix is coming back soon. It’s definitely pretty boilerplate spy type action show but I enjoyed the first season. It’s not breaking any new ground but it’s not trying to.

I apparently have no life and binge watched both seasons. That last 10 minutes was a bit of a wtf?

I read the book series because I liked the first season so much.

Then I didn't like the 2nd season. In part because I just don't think it was as good, but also I think knowing where everything leads takes some of the mystery out of it.

So I'll probably have to defer to the folks that haven't read all the books as to whether the 2nd season was objectively worse -- I sure thought it was. By quite a bit.
