Winter storm Blair

How is Blair affecting you and yours? I put heat lamps in both of our wells and put those square styrofoam boxes over all outside spigots. Extra blankly on me beehive.
Daughter is driving from Manhattan home to garden city. Almost home. Will be a relief when she gets here.
Will have to water a few animals by hand.
Looks like the hutch area could get a LOT of ice. More than an inch.
Hope you all stay safe!

Yeah, and in the 10 day forecast I don't see any day that the highs even get up to 30. Snow will have to be dealt with. The worst is when I've tried to "get by" without clearing my driveway and then another snow drops on top of it. Then you get this hard shelf of crap beneath the new snow.

Ive spent about 6 hours shoveling 10,000lbs of white bullshit off of the cement on my property. I don't know if I'm going to be able to get out of bed tomorrow.

When I was an auto parts counterman we'd sell the shit out of snow chains when a storm like this was forecast. Does anyone even use them anymore? Besides truckers going through mountain passes?

A friend of mine was going to go through the mountains with a storm coming. They were stopping all traffic and told them chains were mandatory. He had to turn around and find a place that sold them.

Other than that, haven't heard of anybody since I was a kid.

I think unless you live in a mountainous area, snow chains have pretty much gone the way of curb feelers.

We still use chains on all our surveyor field trucks. What they are great for is in the mud. You can get places that 4X4 with deep lugged mudders will only get you stuck. When you have several miles of storm sanitary water line and curb stakes to be set in a subdivision plat you need a truck near you so you're not constantly hoofing in and out to truck for materials. They always want you after heavy rains when they are shut down so as soon as it drys up they can get busy.
