A Level Headed Review Week 9 2024

Going to try something a little different...

WR corps - I'l be honest I'm not sure if we need another WR or not - feels like it would be a nice security blanket to have another WR besides Ross/Remigio/Washington. DeAndre Hopkins really does catch everything thrown to him, the rainbow pass for 35 yards to Hopkins was disgusting and he literally caught everything Pat threw to him (8/9 86 yards 2 TD's). Worthy needs to work on his sideline awareness a couple of passes he should have had were negated by his feet being too close to the boundary. Watson really made his presence felt as well with 3 receptions on 4 targets for 43 yards.

TE's - It always seems like Kelce fumbles as he just tries a little too hard for extra yardage but his production was good tonight with 14/16 for 100 yards. I think he may be pressing a bit thinking he needs to help shoulder a bigger load. Grey was quiet tonight with only one target and no receptions. Payton Hendershot makes an appearance on the last drive with a 9 yard catch.

OL - I didn't get an opportunity to really watch what was happening on the OL but Vea is a force in the middle really collapsing the pocket and forcing Mahomes into a couple of sacks. I'll have to re-watch to get a really good idea of what specifically was happening.

ST's - pretty good for the most part but not kicking the ball out of the Endzone seemed pretty questionable at the start of the second half. Should always just kick it out of the back of the end zone. I feel like I know why they got lucky on the bounce on the previous KO that skipped in the EZ for the touchback and start at the 20. Trying to replicate that burnt us and let the Bucs start the 2nd half at the 50.

Defense - played really well despite giving up 3 TD's. I didn't feel like the problem was with the CB's this game but the Bucs had their top three receivers out of the game so that may have masked some of the deficiencies. The last drive was really sloppy defense giving up really big chunk plays...... Still personally on the Lattimore train if he is available....but if we decide to stand pat I think we will be okay.

Not sure why we got away from the running game in the first half, but Andy really switched it up in the second half and started ramming Hunt down their throats which really worked well (27 rushes for 106 yards and 1 TD). I didn't get a chance to look at the halftime rushing stats but it wasn't pretty.

OT - A steady dose of Hunt with a sprinkling of Kelce and Hopkins = WIN

Also what are Saced?

Why, did the TWO whole catches by wide receivers until the shitty prevent drive scare you too badly?

Kelce's fumble was just a good hit by the defender. He wasn't pressing at all. He caught the ball and turned and it got popped out.

Tampa was missing both of their starting WR’s.

Once the little flukey bullshit bugs get ironed out, and Mahomes and Dhop build a rapport together, this team is going to be the scariest version of itself since legion of zoom.

Worthy better be doing sideline drills til he pukes, and then do more sideline drills.

Reid has to stay the course and knock off that artsy fartsy cute play bullshit that put us behind the sticks constantly.

Steve Spagnuolo needs to flush that prevent defense play sheet down the toilet, that was some abysmal ****ing defensive philosophy there. 1st and 20 in their own 20, one timeout under 2 minutes and you surrender a td because you call off the dogs? Inexcusable.

Are you implying that Tampa Bay fielded no wide receivers tonight?

I do feel like we are lucky that Bowles didn't go for 2 on the last drive. Had they made it that changes the complexion of the last 30 seconds for sure.

NFL 2 point conversion is a coin flip, so it's just as likely TB loses the game in regulation if they go for it.

Gotta say that this was the most satisfying win for the year. I refuse to believe we are as bad passing as we have been the past 2 years. This is way more a return to form. If not for some bad mistakes by kelce and worthy we would have absolutely destroyed with our pass game. It was way more the aggressive mahomes we’ve loved for so long.

Another wr would be nice but I think getting juju back is a good enough place holder for the rest of the season until we get Hollywood back. Hollywood would be huge. I’d love to push worthy but the game is coming way too fast for him.

Kareem is getting used a ton. Can’t wait for Pacheco to get back so we can split the backfield. But man, last year we struggled on short yardage and with Kareem I don’t feel even a little bit of anxiety.

I think our D will be fine but if there’s any hole in our defense it’s that we have games time to time where creativity using RBs and TEs and misdirection hurts us. Even when fully healthy TEs have been flat out throttling us this year.

And had they missed it, the game would be over. I get both ways of thinking, but if I were them I would have gone for it for sure.

Worthy is a rookie but he really is leaving much to be desired so far this season. The bomb vs the chargers has really been the extent of his receiving game. Mostly just a gadget guy so far.

Tonight it was really just lazy on him now getting the feet in. Running that route from right split there is no excuse to not get the feet down.

Not melting down but he needs to start improving in those areas.
