Doesn't matter. He's active now and has a chance to be a big part of a SB winning team if he can help clog the middle.

It's a question we just keep asking.

He looks better than Nnadi looked every time he's on the field. Exponentially better than Matt Dickerson.

Why are we not putting him out there? Are they that worried that he'll line up in the wrong gap at a key moment? Pennell did that last week and eventually Bolton cleaned it up. It happens in football.

Play the better player, especially when you have a deep defense behind him that can cover for mistakes.

If I’m reading this right, looks like these are the only guys who have been on the roster for all four of the Super Bowls we’ve been in over the last handful of years. Kind of interesting to see those who have hung on when you wouldn’t think they’d last. Others are obviously not so surprising.
I think Sneed was on those teams too???

He wasn’t on the first one.

He was drafted the following year. Along with CEH, Willie Gay, Niang.

Against the Ravens, snap counts for the players compensating for the absence of Omenihu and Nnadi looked like this:

Wharton: 37 (65%)
Pennel: 19 (33%)
Herring: 13 (23%)
Farrell: 5 (9%)

Jones played on the outside a bit more after Omenihu went down.

He was part of the MEH draft.

You re-order that draft a bit and it's pretty damn solid:

32: L'Jarius Sneed
63: Willie Gay
96: Michael Danna
138: MEH
177: Lucas Niang
237: The immortal BoPete Keyes

Shows how much day 2 picks can dictate the value of a draft. Take Sneed out of that draft and you have to move everyone up a slot and it kinda looks like hell. But Sneed salvaged the busted MEH pick quite a little bit. And MEH as a solid backup RB in the 4th round is fine in his own right.

I remember almost everyone scratching their head at the Danna pick.

That one worked out nicely. Really solid player drafted late.

I know I did.

Then I did a little homework and talked myself into it.

He just seemed to have made a poor choice with his transfer. At least for someone looking to establish himself as an NFL prospect. You could look at this Central Michigan tape and see that he had this kind of ability off the edge. But Michigan just buried him in the middle and it kinda screwed him up.

That's a massive scouting win by Veach and company. I didn't like it because frankly I don't have time to go watch a dude's JUNIOR tape or anything. I just didn't think anything of this really middling DT out of Michigan.

Turns out that was Michigan's fault, not Danna's. And Veach was smart enough (and prepared enough) to see that.

Wasn’t Sneed a similar story?

Didn’t they move him to safety his last year and he wasn’t impressive? Junior year he looked much better at corner.

I might be remembering that wrong.

Did he rewatch the entire game and try to pick out any bad or missed calls that benefitted the 49ers?

If not, why not?

When you see the all 22 from behind you can clearly see it isn't a hold, he gets bumped into the RG which on the tv angle looks like restriction
