This is the problem with all the “that guy is wide open” takes. The fact that nobody is his hip pocket at a certain moment doesn’t mean that is the read or the correct throw, it doesn’t account for the progression, scrambling, visibility, etc.

Because you can’t view these plays in isolation. When WRs don’t consistently hit their spots which seems a big problem with skyy or don’t consistently separate, mahomes can’t anticipate his WRs open. And right now our team is structured to where we can’t recover from mistakes. We can’t recover from Mvs missing a pass because mahomes now only has 2 shots to get to a first down. That’s where you get that weird zone where mahomes is both tentative and pressing at the same time.
