Flooring Guys Question
Bought some LVP flooring from a guy at a business that had it stored in a business garage for the last couple of years. It wasn't a flooring business just a business that decided they weren't going to use it. It was still new in box and the boxes didn't look damaged or anything like that. It is Coretec(Shaw) brand flooring. If you look at the picture I embedded a lot of it has a haze on it. I thought a good cleaning would take care of it but it ain't going away. What would cause this and can I do anything about it? It is down in a basement so it isn't the end of the world but I have three other rooms down there to do and might contemplate getting something else but may go ahead and do it anyways.

That's how a lot of it looks out of the box.

Sometimes cleaning crews use Pine Sol (don't EVER use this shit on a floor) and it leaves a residue you have to buff out with black pads or scrub with towels.

So is there something I can do? We put this down and no chemical has been on it at this point... i did try some vinegar and water on just a couple of planks to see if it would help but only water otherwise.

I've seen flooring at Habitat for Humanity and another discount place that are seconds, meaning the original product wasn't up to specs so they donated it or sold it cheap. It's usually something most people wouldn't notice, as I think your floor looks fine. Not saying this is the case with this flooring, but something I've seen before.

Try Charcoal lighter fluid or mineral spirits. Not joking, maybe look thru your extra material and try al kinds of chemicals on a spare piece but I'd bet mineral spirits will get it.

Notorious is your go-to for floors.

I owned a retail hardwood flooring store for 6 years but I sold the business in 2006 so I am no longer up on LVT or LVP. I do know it has taken over the industry and today is more popular than laminate, which is shit, hardwood and tile.
