Something else that's worth considering.

Don't hate on me here, I'm just theorizing. Instead of doing what some of you always do and call me an idiot, dispute the point I'm making, please.

One thing that was absolutely nuts, watching this game, was something I'm not sure I've ever seen before, on both sides of the ball.

The Chiefs, on a down-to-down basis, completely changed up their DL and their weapons on offense. Again, on nearly a down-to-down basis.

They'd have Karlaftis-Nnadi-Dickerson-Herring on one down (which, oh my god) and then the next down they'd have Danna and Wharton subbing in, before bringing in FAU and sometimes even Chenal at DE as a rushbacker.

On offense, there was all kinds of bizarre weapons packages. One down they go three TEs with Justyn Ross off to the side. They have MVS/Toney/Moore on a down only to yank 2/3 of them off so Watson/Rice can come in.

I'm just kind of used to a team that plays a true 1st string and a true 2nd string when the 1st stringers need a blow. Instead, it was a personnel free-for-all.

I get it, the Chiefs are down a few guys. So, logically, you put in your best remaining players and occasionally spell then, rather than just keep a lazy susan of your entire depth chart going. I haven't been able to find the snapcounts, but if Matt Dickerson lead our DTs in snaps, I wouldn't be surprised. There's no way he's our best, or even second best DT.

The defense played well, and the offense had enough in them to win the game yesterday. They just couldn't hold onto the ball.

But it did have a feeling of throwing-shit-against-the-wall in the gameplanning.

I was actually quite impressed with Dickerson last night. He seemed to be a nuisance at times. It will be interesting to see how he graded.

I’ve considered things and, despite last night’s performance, the Chiefs are still my favorite team.

I think this is the beginning of the season and we have a lot of young players. They are still trying to find the rotations that work and see who will stand out. Rotating pass rushers/d-line can help blitzes as they are fresh longer.

I'm not worried about a true first string with as deep as we are. I am for getting more game reps for the younger guys.

Trent Green said, last preseason game, this is the best top to bottom roster we've had , so MOAR players are getting in to play. Reid likes to experiment a little in week 1 so we'll now have a fire lit and an execution plan moving forward. 16-1 we will be

Toney = coming off an injury
Pacheco = coming off an injury
Kelce = out
Rice = rookie
Skyy = second year player and wasn’t a major factor in the offense last year
CEH = got more touches than he should, likely due to Pacheco coming off an injury
Gray = has never really needed to be our TE1

That explains a lot of discombobulation on offense.

The OL was great in pass pro. I won’t judge the run game when CEH has that many carries.

A lot to feel good about, because drops lost us the game. Simple as. That can be corrected.

It felt like a fifth preseason game for the offense.

That's a big YIP from me!

The further out from the game we get, the more confident I'm feeling that things will be just fine.

The stars had to align so the shadow of Jupiter shined on the ass of a goat in a remote apartment rooftop in Somalia for the Lions to win.

I'm over it.

Beat the Jaguars.

We also need to consider not just that Kelce was hurt, but WHEN Kelce was hurt.

2 days before the game? He (like always) was a huge part of the game plan.

What happens to that game plan when Kelce is out? Does it become worthless? No one on the planet can do the things that Kelce does.

I think especially later, Reid was trying to **** with Detroit. Their coaching staff is all young and comparatively inexperienced. Some of it was certainly exploitative of Xs and Os, some of it was stressing their communication and decision making systems, which is smart.
