The fate of Chris Jones 2023 edition

Appears the Chiefs and Chris Jones are at the beginning of a contract dispute

Speculation has been that the two sides are "far apart" on a deal

So Chiefs Planet.... how do we think this will play out (poll coming)

Will the Chiefs pay up and meet Chris Jones demands? If so, how much will it end up costing?

Will the Chiefs not be able to meet Chris Jones demands and end up trading him? If so, what kind of haul can we expect?

I've really loved watching Chris Jones wreck shit for the Chiefs, it always sucks when the business side of the NFL forces teams into tough decisions.

Chris Jones has been with the team for a long time......I doubt they thought he'd just wake up one day and go full scorched earth **** everything but my money to the point that he'll quit attitude.

There's not an optimal win here. Give the guy the number you want in March. If he isn't interested, let him seek someone who will give him what he wants then move on.

I still kinda think Katz expected the market for the DTs to jump with Simmons, Williams and Lawrence all signing this off-season.

And it kinda did, but it didn't get close to Donald.

The failure of the market to develop threw them a curveball they weren't ready for.

So I do think we can actually consider the possibility of mere incompetence on Katz's part rather than bad-faith.

Hanlon's Razor is useful again: "Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity..."

There's a good chance that Katz just royally ****ed up his read on the DT market, put himself in a bind and is now doubling down on stupid.

I mean, the market is the market.

I don't now how he would expect to get to 30 even next year right?

Do the Chiefs seem like the kind of team that would be desperate in leaking details to the press so that fans would be on the organization’s side? We’re not the Cowboys with Jerry Jones and I don’t think the team is losing the PR battle here.

Jones' behavior is as irrational and unexpected as anything we've seen since Andrew Luck retired.

At a point, there's just not a shitload you can do apart from trading every damn guy you have with only a year on his contract.

I mean hell, what if PM retires? Should we trade him now just to be safe?

No - these guys don't get paid to predict irrational.

This is on Jones and Katz.
