The fate of Chris Jones 2023 edition

Appears the Chiefs and Chris Jones are at the beginning of a contract dispute

Speculation has been that the two sides are "far apart" on a deal

So Chiefs Planet.... how do we think this will play out (poll coming)

Will the Chiefs pay up and meet Chris Jones demands? If so, how much will it end up costing?

Will the Chiefs not be able to meet Chris Jones demands and end up trading him? If so, what kind of haul can we expect?

I've really loved watching Chris Jones wreck shit for the Chiefs, it always sucks when the business side of the NFL forces teams into tough decisions.

My worry is that if Jones doesn't agree to Veach's offer, that Veach will still spend that money on another, albeit lesser, DT.

We absolutely did not have the toughest schedule in football last year. We did have the projected toughest schedule, but it didn't materialize that way because Arizona, Denver, LA, and LV were all ass.

We drafted pass rushers the last two years in Karlaftis,RD1, Uzomah, RD 1 , and Thompson RD 5. Veach has his plan. He's one step ahead

Well plus we handed a lot of losses out to them.

I agree with all of that. I love our LBers and secondary. They both have a chance to be top-10 units. The only part of our defense I have any worries about is the DL, and a large part of that is Jones not getting a full training camp and Omenihu’s suspension.

I’m really excited to see our defense when we’re at full strength.

Well sure, in a small sample size our wins distort SoS, but I think we can all agree that those teams were significantly worse than expected and that was more than a third of our games.

While we are better with CJ than without I think Veachs next step in his plan is replacing CJ after this year. Betting he has his eye on a certain college player right now , plus a couple fA's coming up. He needs a better draft position than 32 so how does he get there
Jones is still an elite pass rusher at the DT position. He commands more attention on the DLine than anyone else on this team. How much longer can he do it? Not a clue, but that is not easy to replace, and it's even harder where the Chiefs draft.

We don't know, but this whole "If Jones doesn't sack Burrow on 3rd and 8 we don't win" is pure speculation and horseshit. Burrow had already thrown multiple picks and bad incompletions, and just converted a huge 3rd and 16 deep in his own territory.
