Do we want DeHop?

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl...9536dcd3&ei=21

Story by Andrew Gould

The Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl without a star wide receiver, but they could reportedly make an elite offense even scarier by acquiring DeAndre Hopkins.

NFL insider Benjamin Albright told PHNX Cardinals that Kansas City is the "primary suitor" for Hopkins. He doesn't know the draft compensation the Cardinals would receive, but he said it's more likely they get a second-round pick than a first.

After the 2022 season, theScore's Jordan Schultz reported that the Cardinals plan to trade Hopkins this offseason.

Arizona hired a new general manager and head coach after a disappointing four-win season, and Hopkins is set to make $19.45 million (with a $30.75 million cap hit) in 2023. The Cardinals could seek a clean slate by moving the three-time All-Pro wideout, who turns 31 in June.

Hopkins began his Cardinals career by tallying 1,407 yards and six touchdowns in 2020. However, multiple lower body injuries limited him to 10 games in 2021, and he served a six-game suspension to start the 2022 season for violating the NFL's PED policy.

Yet he remains an impact player when on the field. Hopkins totaled 474 receiving yards in six full games with quarterback Kyler Murray last season.

Now imagine what he can accomplish when catching passes from Patrick Mahomes.

The Chiefs flourished without a star replacement for Tyreek Hill, but they could still benefit by solidifying the position this offseason. JuJu Smith-Schuster is a free agent after garnering 78 catches for 933 yards on a one-year deal. The depth chart features several talented question marks in Mecole Hardman, Kadarius Toney, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

Adding Hopkins could be great news for Kansas City, but terrible for all opposing defenses.

Do we want a high priced prima donna?

Don't bring up how he was better than Juju 3 years ago either, because he's not that guy anymore.

Even if they thought DHop is a better player now than Juju it still wouldn't make sense. The Chiefs know Juju is a 1000 yd guy in this offense if he plays 17 games (933 in 15 games last year) and if they think Hopkins is a 1200 yd guy, then you really think they think Hopkins is worth $6 mil/yr more + draft pick(s)?

It just doesn't make any sense.
Lolz, if you can’t see the difference between JJSS and DHop just bow out of the of the conversation now.

It’s not even apples to bananas. JuJu at best is a middle tier WR (43th to 54th overall). Hopkins is at worst 10th, never mind he’s probably bound for Canton. JuJu is just some guy that’ll be done in the next couple seasons.

You’re talking like the guy that looks at Frank Gore’s stats and Thinks he’s better than Barry Sanders. Open your eyes, bud. They ain’t nothing alike. They shouldn’t even be in the same paragraph, much less the same sentence.

Hopkins at his worst costs more money, costs more draft picks, and might miss more games than JuJu.

So be real.

Yes, Hopkins has a high ceiling but I'm not thrilled about him.

We don’t need Hopkins, but we would be significantly better with him to think otherwise is silly. We don’t need CEH and he does not improve this roster in any way.

Hopkins isn't anywhere close to 10th best WR if you think he's top 10, then you are the one that should bow out. They're pretty damn close to the same at this point in time. You acting like Hopkins is in his mid 20s is complete delusion. The guy had 11.2 yards per reception and his longest reception was 33 yds. He very clearly ran a bunch of under neath routes. I don't care who his QBs were either. He was on a team with absolutely no options other than him and that threw the 4th most passes in the league.

You still haven't shown me a receiver that's come back from multiple injuries in his late 20s and produced at a high level in his 30s.

Hell, I’m not even talking about DeAndre Hopkins, ability to influence games for the Kansas City Chiefs. I’m just talking about DeAndre Hopkins as a football player, as a wide receiver, versus juju smith Schuster. And they’re not in the same ballpark. Hell, they’re not even in the same ZIP Code.

He's been GM since 2017. I've got a pretty good read on what he wants to do with player acquisition. He doesn't sign or acquire old broke dicks. He wasn't comfortable giving Juju $11 mil, but he's gonna be comfortable giving Hopkins $17 mil a year? He's not an idiot.

Wtf does this even mean? Youre not talking about ability to influence a game, but you're talking about how good he is at WR/football player?

What?

Damn, I can’t believe I have to explain this to you. I mean, seriously. You really think JuJu holds a candle to Hopkins? Are you blind?

Whatever. Next thing you’ll try to tell me is Barry was just another RB.

I’ll entertain this. You say he’s not top 10. So top 15? Top 20??

Every move we have made is geared toward preserving the future while keeping us competitive in the here and now.

Trading significant draft capital to overpay Mr. PEDs on the wrong side of his 30s is the complete opposite. Huge pass.

This doesnt help your argument.

He was on a team with terrible QBs (2nd and 3rd string}, he was their only option as you say (defenses knew this as well) and yet in only 9 games he had 64 catches 717 yards, 3 TDs and 11.2 YPC.

Thats amazing! This is more of an argument FOR Hopkins.

Your and idiot. What the ever loving **** are you even talking about? Name the top 10 WRs in the NFL. go ahead, dumbass.

Let's just ignore the fact that JJSS has never been ranked higher than about 35. Meanwhile, DHop was considered the best WR in the league, several times, as recently as three or four years ago. JJSS has never been considered a top 10 WR. ****ing ever.

Wtf are you even talking about?

If you can't just watch the tape and understand that JuJu is just a JAG and Deandre Hopkins is one of the best to ever do it, then you're just dumb as ****. There's no comparison here. Deandre is exceptional. JJSS is just some guy pretending to be a WR.

Get serious.
