Do we want DeHop?
https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl...9536dcd3&ei=21
Story by Andrew Gould The Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl without a star wide receiver, but they could reportedly make an elite offense even scarier by acquiring DeAndre Hopkins. NFL insider Benjamin Albright told PHNX Cardinals that Kansas City is the "primary suitor" for Hopkins. He doesn't know the draft compensation the Cardinals would receive, but he said it's more likely they get a second-round pick than a first. After the 2022 season, theScore's Jordan Schultz reported that the Cardinals plan to trade Hopkins this offseason. Arizona hired a new general manager and head coach after a disappointing four-win season, and Hopkins is set to make $19.45 million (with a $30.75 million cap hit) in 2023. The Cardinals could seek a clean slate by moving the three-time All-Pro wideout, who turns 31 in June. Hopkins began his Cardinals career by tallying 1,407 yards and six touchdowns in 2020. However, multiple lower body injuries limited him to 10 games in 2021, and he served a six-game suspension to start the 2022 season for violating the NFL's PED policy. Yet he remains an impact player when on the field. Hopkins totaled 474 receiving yards in six full games with quarterback Kyler Murray last season. Now imagine what he can accomplish when catching passes from Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs flourished without a star replacement for Tyreek Hill, but they could still benefit by solidifying the position this offseason. JuJu Smith-Schuster is a free agent after garnering 78 catches for 933 yards on a one-year deal. The depth chart features several talented question marks in Mecole Hardman, Kadarius Toney, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling. Adding Hopkins could be great news for Kansas City, but terrible for all opposing defenses. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Do we want a high priced prima donna? |

Kelce is the only dominant receiver we have in the red zone and having another dominant receiver like DHop in the red zone would make it impossible for defenses to defend especially when Toney and McKinnon are options as well.

I guess we're just fortunate that Bert has been so lucky. Better lucky than good, I suppose. That regression to the mean is going to be a bitch, though.

Look, the probabilities are just against us that Veach will draft that many solid-great players in just two drafts. I bet that the NFL average is far below that, and even in the top 5 drafting teams, it's not normal. Like significantly outside the mean. That doesn't mean that I think Veach is not a good drafter, or good at his job or whatever. I'm on the record already for saying that I think he's in the top-2 or 3 in the league. But nobody's perfect. He's going to have an off year or two before he's done.

You obviously aren't following a long. I wasn't the person who brought up the Patriots trading for a 30yr old Randy Moss.
There is no comparison, period. Randy Moss was better than DHop ever was, or will be. I just thought it was funny highlighting the actual difference between of the numbers in between the actual HOF'er, rather than the guy people are trying to have people prop up and believe is one already. For more giggles on HOFm #'s. Tyreek Hill - 70.03 DeAndre Hopkins - 59.84 Tyreek Hill has 3 less seasons under his belt. Last edited by Abba-Dabba; 03-04-2023 at 12:16 AM.. |

I’m not a fan of trading for Hopkins, but some of you are not giving the man the respect he’s earned. If he’s healthy, he would be a dominating force with Mahomes for a year or 2 and he would extend Kelces career by teams having to pick their poison on who to put their bigger cover players on.
If we could get him for Clyde and a 4th, it would be worth looking into but not the kind of move I’d make. But I’d be excited if Veach and Andy thought it was worth the risk. |

Kelce's career is he's an iron man. The wear and tear is already set in stone. No extending the career. Just expiration

'Andy's directive' as you call it would always be in play, but not in the way you and so many others are thinking. You do a Hopkins deal, you're ****ing your team two years down the road. We'll certainly add weapons, but it will be in the draft, and we'll develop them, because we HAVE TO. If we're going to throw money around, do it where it really can make a difference; finish shoring up the offensive line and get yourself at least one upgrade at OT. It would be nice to watch a healthy Mahomes in the Super Bowl for a change. We're going to need to live and die by the draft for a couple of years here. Fortunately, Veach has done exceptionally well these last couple of drafts, and there's every reason to believe that we'll continue to do well there-no matter what you say about it. We have a GM, head coach and offensive system, defensive coordinator and system well entrenched and in tune with each other. That's why these last couple of drafts have gone so well, it's not magic, it's experience and knowing exactly who fits and who doesn't. |
