***OFFICIAL Chiefs vs Chargers Game Day Thread***

At long last, an incomparable and unparalleled day is upon us, Planeteers.

The Patrick Mahomes II Era begins with this game. May the Bolts fizzle and sputter as expected and may the New Chiefs begin their rise to greatness in dramatic fashion.

In lieu of a bunch of secret spoiler deals, I have composed a brief poetism in honor of the occasion. May it meet with your approval. Ahem ...

There once was a kid named Mahomes
Who had truly unique chromosomes
The Bolts were aghast
When the Chiefs scored so fast
And Mahomes incapacitated their ohms

There you have it, Planeteers. Go Chiefs!

(Sorry if re-post.)

Yeah. Because for the first time in 15 years we actually have an offense and QB that I believe we can win a Superbowl with, and it's all weighed down by the travesty that is our defense. Maybe I'm the only one but that infuriates me more than anything during the Peterson and Pioli eras.

My biggest gripe with Sutton was how he overused and ruining Poe to the point he had to have back surgery after OTA participation and wasn't ever the same after.

Defense overall wasnt good but when you look into it a little more there certainly are improvements. I'm still holding out hope something gets done with Breeland and Berry comes back. Ford was great today we definitely missed him last year. Idk what's up with Houston.

What was he going to do? Outside of Poe, there wasn't a single body on the line that was worth anything.

Hey, I don't like the way the defense is playing. I also recognize that firing the coordinator isn't going to turn this bunch of scrubs into a respectable defense. Their two highest-paid "stars" are non-existent. In fact, I think Berry had a bigger impact on the game than Houston did.

Maybe it’s just me but it never seems like we sack rivers very often

As much as I hate him he’s so good at getting rid of it and such

People have short memories.

The 2002 and 2012 defenses were WAY worse.

I've never seen such awful corner play as we had in 2002 and GROB couldn't coordinate his way out of a wet paper bag.

For the most part Sutton's defenses have always given up yards but won the game by preventing TDs and getting turnovers.

That's not good enough in the postseason when your QB is Alex Smith but it's damn sure going to be good enough if your offense is in league with the 98 Vikings or 99 Rams.

This offense is going to be so good. They only scratched the surface today and put up 31 points like it was an accident.

I genuinely think this offense could have a 60-point game this year.

Not one single solitary ****ing point.

Classic ReidSmith.

It was actually both offenses. But the point still stands. And as one of the very few people who was actually objective about Alex Smith (hard on him when it was warranted, defending him likewise), all the offense needed to do in those two games was get a field goal and he couldn’t pull that off.

However, even with that being the case, it still is no excuse for the utter and complete defensive collapses. That falls on Sutton the same as the ‘03 _fense falls on GRob.

The issue I have is his ability to adjust. There was three sequences that the Chargers ran where they dumped it off to the RB in consecutive order. Two times in a row is a pattern, and the third time it happened, I was like "What is he doing?"
