Mentioned it before. If we choose to draft an OL early I think it’s Frank Ragnow. Good size, good athleticism. Can play G and C. Dude gave up zero sacks in 41 games in the SEC.
I think Andy loves the guy

Depends on how the board looks after the first day whether we trade up from 54 or stay put for that particular defensive player.

My goodness Hughes would be fantastic, but I doubt we even get a sniff. Some mocks have him going as high as 18 to Seattle.
He would cost too much draft capital in my opinion. If he is still around 7-8 picks into the 2nd round however, you almost have to make a move to get him. His closing speed and ability to mirror is elite. He can factor seriously into the punt return game too. |

I love Hughes. If he's there in 2, its because of the assault as a freshman when he knocked a guy out. I don't see him slipping, really. Maybe teams won't like his size and top-end speed enough, but he's so good on the field that it's hard to think someone won't take him early. He's going to get some serious love from teams still employing a cover 2 scheme.
Like I mentioned in Direkshun's mock, I don't mind sweat if its closer to round 4. A late 3rd is fine. I would not like a 2nd round pick spent on the guy. He needs alot of work and someone has to light a fire under his ass off the snap or he's useless. I like Ragnow a bunch. I'd support a trade up into the top of the 3rd. I don't know if you spend a 2nd on him, but maybe you do. Same with Braden Smith. If you're that convinced that either of those guys solves your problem at LG, then I support going up and getting them. I'd have more confidence in Smith being there at 78 than Ragnow. I like Malik Jefferson a bunch, but is he a need now with Hitchens and Ragland penciled in as the starters? I don't think so. He could be a sub-package coverage linebacker early on, but are you willing to spend a 2nd round pick on him to get that? Dorance Armstrong just doens't bring enough to the table. He's going late I'd think. 6th/7th round pick that you hope develops. |

I don't really like Sweat at all. Dorance is in the big group of potential pass rusher guys that I want the Chiefs to take in the 4th round or later |

I love Ragnow as a Center, less at guard. He should be picked ahead of Smith though. Smith does not wow me and should at best be a mid 3rd round pick. True 5 techs in this class are few and far between, so I think the Chiefs convert a 3 tech like Chris Jones to become a disruptor along the D-line. McIntosh, Greene, Shepherd to name a few. Not a fan of Sweat, and I think you could still find production from other guys into round 4 - Ejiofor, Holland, etc. Safeties who can role play in Sutton’s scheme can be found anywhere, and TE is rather deep too. I expect a heavy defensive draft however. The one offensive player I would applaud being selected at 54 however is Anthony Miller. He is destined to be great. |

The more I listen to PFF podcasts and analysis, the more I think that if Maurice Hurst falls into the 2nd round due to the heart issue, the Chiefs should be trading up to get him.
PFF grades him as a pass rush beast and all the previous players they have graded at the same level pass rush wise have also been great at the NFL level immediately. |

So atwhat point does Nathan Sheppard get picked round wise?
If the chiefs were to take his m at 54, would you be upset? If they could get a corner at 54 and him with one of the thirds, it’s be ideal |

Ideally I want a defensive player who is going to be playing a significant amount of snaps this year at 54, corner would be a good fit, but depends heavily on what the board looks like. I'd like Shepherd in the 4th if he's still there. |

Watched some Mike Hughes last night.
He may not be tall but the dude has a Marcus Peters esque feel for the game. He understands routes, looks at the QB’s eyes while the play develops and is very good at jumping routes to make INT’s. Easy to see why we’d like him. He does a lot of things you want for a CB in this system.
