2015 Chiefs WR Core Worst in NFL?

There has been much talk this off season regarding the improvements to the much maligned 2014 KC wide receiver corps. The addition of Maclin and Avant (since Avant was a late season add last year) with the flash from Wilson toward the end of the season, the rebranding of DAT as a WR and the hope that Conley will be a player, many here see this as the best WR corps the Chiefs have had in some time.

It is - in my opinion - potentially the best WR corps Smith has ever played with in his 10 years in the league.

Yet, there is an article on Arrowhead Pride that lists Chiefs 2015 WR corps the worst in NFL.

http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2015/6...rs-weakest-nfl

What say you? Are we (many of us anyway) just drinking the Kool-aid, or do the Chiefs have something going on the outside?

I'd say we're better off than the Chargers, Rams, Panthers, Jags, & Houston at the very least. There's a few others that are close.

Because of his amazingly quick feet, great hands, and ability to shake and bake, however, in the Patriots offense he's ridiculous.

LaFell is fine. A 2 or 3 WR. Nothing special.

But yes, Gronk is the key. He's seriously the greatest TE I've ever seen in my life. Not only great at pass catching, but an above-average, tenacious blocker. Best all-around package.

I know we're not what I'd call a good WR corps. We have Maclin as a legit, proven threat. Kelce is a TE and our second legit option, and we don't know how legit he really is yet.

Then...it's a bunch of questions marks.

Still not an excuse for Alex not to produce this year. It's year three in this system and he's such a brilliant guy that he should make a guy or two shine.

He's had 2 first round receivers he couldn't make shine. Nm it's all the WRs fault huh.

Panthers are still pretty bad. I'm not that big of a Kelvin Benjamin fan, honestly.

Titans? Rams? Ravens? Did the Ravens re-sign Torrey Smith?

The Chiefs may have unprovens and crap behind Maclin, but they at least have Maclin. Those other teams don't.
I'm not a big fan of the depth at the WR position on this team, I'd rank them bottom 5 still, but I wouldn't say that they are the absolute worse unless we lose Maclin, then it's really bad. But that's the problem, the one quality starter on this team has suffered injuries in seasons prior and wasn't all that consistent in his production under Reid. He didn't have a 1k yard season until Kelly came along.

As long as we're scoring enough points to beat enough teams to make the playoffs, I don't care who's catching the TD passes or running the ball in.
