Find the Launch Codes! Alex Smith 6th Best QB Since Week 1!

After the terrible performance in week one Alex Smith has the sixth highest passer rating among all NFL QBs with at least 100 passes attempted. His line:

100 of 151 for 1068 yards for 8 TDs and 1 INT and a rating of 101.64.

The comeback win yesterday was a nice outlier that I hope he can duplicate when needed but when we're leading with the rush he's put up some pretty nice performances against the #2, #4, #5, #6, and #12 ranked defenses.

We drafted contributors that can play at a high level. Isn't that what you want out of the draft?

Watching the plan unfold is very interesting, and seeing April's draft will be another step.

If we do manage to win a playoff game this year, it wont really be the end game of 'the ride' it will just be the beginning...

I personally dont think people are missing the ride by not having 'hope' for a playoff run this season, they are just on a different ride than you....

But I dunno, everyone experiences shit differently. I have a tiny bit of hope we will win a playoff game - if only to get experience (much needed ) for a young team....not so much as an end result. If we go 5-3 that hope will grow a little...If we win more away games against winning teams....that hope could grow alot.

I would love it if my tiny pilot light of hope could get ignited by the gas of a playoff run...but I just see too many flaws still and I am not going to let a single win against a banged up SD team bust my gas valve wide open.
Fair enough pawn. Like I said... I'm pulling for you guys.

No, and it's clearly not.

For instance this past draft we took a 1 dimensional (and he is clearly one dimensional) pass rusher with our 1st pick in the draft.

Instead of a player riding the pine we could have drafted a WR to start immediately to help out Smith. Or a CB to come in immediately and improve our coverage.

Also the bungling of the 1st round pick. We used every second of time on the clock before turning our pick in. Don't sit there and clearly lie and say he was your guy. You don't let the clock run all the way down because you're locked in to picking a guy - you do it because you're trying to work out some kind of trade. Another area Dorsey clearly sucks at.

We could have gotten a low 2nd for Albert the year before and instead will be hoping for a high comp pick (lower 3rd round.)

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

You don't think they tried to trade albert? I'd imagine they'd have taken a 2nd if it were available. So clearly that wasn't the case.

Just seems like a while lot of festering and bitching about something that didn't work out the way you wanted. No offense

And they did draft a corner a few rounds later that helped in coverage on Sunday against a pretty good qb

I count 10 Charger defenders in the screen. If they have 11 players on the field, where is the mystery defender hiding? If he is say at the 20, maybe that is why the ball did not go over the top.

There's 11 accounted for. Count again.

Wrong.

The Dolphins offered their lower 2nd round pick and we wanted the higher one (I don't remember the pick numbers.)

We turned down a lower 2nd.

Then you're not paying attention.

It's not about them drafting "my guy" it's about wasted opportunities.

It's about drafting the replacements for players a year before you plan to release them or let them walk. It's a treading-water mentality and while you're doing that you're also passing on starting level talent at numerous positions of need.

Keep in mind I was $#itting my pants with glee when I heard we hired Dorsey. It's his approach and performance that have soured me...

There are 11 Bolts in the pic. There's one hidden right behind Jenkins (I think that's who that is) running the post.

Okay, I see him. I thought they said Jenkins was wide open though. Doesn't seem to be the case.
