Original thread was getting to large for the board

2011 WS Championship
2012 one win from another WS
2013 two wins from another WS title
2014 Central Division title and NLCS series win (so far)

This is a franchise that has made the postseason 10 times in the last 14 seasons.

Only 1 losing season since 2000.

Reached the World Series 4 times since 2004 and won as many championships (two) the past eight seasons as it did from 1965 to 2005.

Our new Manager has more post season experience than any other manager in baseball, except the Giants manager.

Made the NLCS 8 times

Three million attendance? Take it to the bank.

60 post season wins since 2004. 20+ wins more than any other team.

It's pretty rare to have a zero tool player with no positional flexibility. Tony Cruz is that guy.

Shit, at least Descalso can play all four infield positions with a measure of competence.

As a Cardinals fan, you will win regardless. We beat the 2005 Astros in Game 5 in the most crushing way imaginable only for them to take the wrecking ball to Busch in the very next game.

Besides, Albert Pujols isn't walking through that door; Lance Berkman isn't walking through that door, and Chris Carpenter isn't walking through that door. And if you expect them to walk through the door they're gonna be gray and old.

This Cardinals vs. Royals mutual hatred for each other is completely foreign to me. I had no idea that the beef even existed... Everyone from my area (95% are Cardinals or Cubs fans) seems to like the Royals. I've always pulled for them in the AL. Had no idea that the rivalry went beyond the 85' Denkenger series.

With that said, it is difficult for me to imagine living in an atmosphere that isn't strictly Cubs vs. Cardinals. Seriously, **** Cubs fans. They deserve every bit of their misfortune.

Also, for all the laudatory praise of the Cardinals organization, national media types have seriously overlooked several glaring weaknesses:

1) We have not had a solid bench bat in three years
2) Our manager is ****ing terrible at his job
3) The medical staff has been 19th century bad for at least twenty years

I fear that, with the ascendance and payroll flexibility of the Cubs and the Dodgers hiring a competent GM in Friedman, this might be the last night of the Cardinal dynasty.

You aren't aware of the Cardinals' history with 3-1.

They were the first and only team in the history of the WS to blow a 3-1 lead. The next time they went up 3-1 in the playoffs was the '96 LCS. They blew that lead. The next time they went up 3-1 in the LCS, they blew that lead too.

The four times they've been down 3-1, they've never come back.

Was that the year they lost out to the Braves? And if memory serves me correctly, they just got their asses completely demolished in those 3 final games. Just beat to shit. Maybe beaten by 10+ runs in a couple of the games.

It's been a great 10 year run. The $8.4 BILLION cable TV contracts may do us in.

4 trips to the World series. 2 World Championships. 80+ post season wins. Arguably the winner of the best World series baseball game ever played. If it ends this year. It still qualifies as a "golden era" of Cardinals baseball.
