Mock Draft 3/22/2025
1-024 (t/MIN) LT Josh Conerly, Jr., Oregon (6'4" 311)
I bullishly believe that Brett Veach isn't done at LT after adding Jaylon Moore to the mix. I also believe Conerly goes higher than his current rankings suggest. He was no less than the 2nd best LT in the Big 10 and that was before Simmons tore his patellar tendon. Conerly is as smooth as they come as a mover for the position and he has pretty good hands and a solid punch. He might need to develop better anchor strength but so did Eric Fisher and this team took him at #1 overall. Conerly has a chance to be exceptional after a year or two in the league. If Conerly can beat out Moore at LT as a rookie, Moore would be definite competition against Suamataia at LG. Chiefs send 1-031, 3-066 (f/TEN) to MIN for 1-024, 3-097 2-063 DT Alfred Collins, Texas (6'6" 332) Collins reminds me of watching Gervon Dexter a couple of seasons ago. He's a bit tardy off the snap but he can make big things happen when he gets moving. If he can be coached to keep his pad level low, he's explosive as all hell. Collins also is one of the few guys I've seen who can displace 300+ pounds of humanity with ease. He has a chance to be a special player if he takes to coaching. 3-095 LB Danny Stutsman, Oklahoma (6'3" 233) Every time I watch the LBs in this class I keep coming back to Stutsman. I just like the energy he plays with and his overall ability on the field. He's got great instincts and great athleticism which usually leads to a really productive player. He's big enough to take on blocks but not too big to be limited to a run thumper only. 3-097 DB Jonas Sanker, Virginia (6'0" 206) Sanker just looks and feels like a Veach safety to me with great size and overall athleticism. Sanker is exceptional in both phases when focused on the task at hand. He triggers downhill and tackles with authority and can play man or zone coverage. He brings early plus ability on special teams as an ace gunner. He's smart and a natural leader from all accounts. 4-133 WR Kyle Williams, Washington State (5'11" 190) I think the Chiefs absolutely have their eyes on a long-term slot option in this draft, having looked at several prospects in that arena. Williams has slightly suspect hands but he brings a good size/speed profile and is a YAC machine. Williams also wins as a deep threat, which would give KC a couple of threats on the field at any time to go long. 7-226 DB Shamari Simmons, Arizona State (6'0" 195) Simmons was a safety who kicked down to nickel CB this past year and may have had his best performance yet. He's an absolutely devastating tackler with good size and speed. He could stand to work on his coverage chops but he'll be a plus asset on special teams as he gets more coaching. 7-251 (COMP) RB Micah Bernard, Utah (6'0" 202) The Chiefs most likely will draft a RB this year but the real question is where. I have my opinion that it might not be as early as people like. Bernard missed most of 2023 but bounced back in 2024 with a great season. He has solid vision and the burst to hit the crease on zone runs. Especially adept at inside zone. He has great body control and contact balance to create yards after contact. He's been solid finding blocking assignments but needs to work on technique. He's also a solid receiver and looks to be a 3rd-down back in the NFL. 7-256 (COMP) CB Jonathan Edwards, Tulane (6'1" 203) Corners with Edwards length and speed don't grow on trees. I'm excited to see his 40 in a couple of days but hitting 23 mph on radar is no easy feat. Edwards is relatively physical and uses his length extremely well to position himself in passing lanes and disrupt the catch point. Roster Makeup Offense QB P. Mahomes, G. Minshew, B. Zappe [C.
