Chiefs chasing history
The Chiefs have been highly successful for a while now and are approaching some NFL records. Some are so obvious that we're all already aware (such as potentially winning a 3rd consecutive Super Bowl.) Others are less well known, so I thought we should have a thread to track some of these records we're chasing.
The Chiefs have won 7 consecutive postseason games and that is tied for 3rd all-time with the Browns, Steelers, 49ers, Cowboys, and Broncos. The Packers are 2nd with 9, and the Patriots are 1st with 10. Those streaks can be interrupted by a season or more in which the team did not make the playoffs. The Chiefs uninterrupted 7 game winning streak in the postseason is tied for 1st all-time with the Browns, Steelers, 49ers, Cowboys, and Broncos. If the Chiefs win 1 playoff game this year, they will hold the record by themselves. The Chiefs have made the playoffs 9 consecutive seasons and that is tied for 2nd all-time with the Colts and Cowboys. The second longest current streak is held by the Bills at 5. The record is held by the Patriots at 11. The Chiefs have 6 consecutive seasons with at least 1 playoff win which is tied for 2nd all-time with the Cowboys and trails only the Patriots who did it 8 consecutive seasons. The Chiefs have won the AFC West 8 consecutive times. No other AFC West team has won the division more than 5 consecutive times. The next best streak would be the Raiders who won the AFL/AFC West 9 times in 10 years. I believe the Chiefs are 2nd all-time in consecutive division titles to the Patriots who won the AFC East 11 consecutive times. Please chip in with others. |
