HP 6500A Plus Printer Repair
This is an old printer however it has served me well over the years. One day, it simply would not feed the paper so in my finite wisdom, decided to take it apart and figure out what was wrong. I found a gear that was slipping on a shaft and used some JB Weld to fix it. Now, my problem is that the printer is out of sync. I removed the print head cleaning system to clean it and now the printer jams up and shuts down. It's amazing how much ink was in the pads inside. If you ever wondered where the ink goes when you clean the print head, I can tell you that it doesn't just disappear.
I have contacted HP and of course, they say it's too old and buy a new one. I am hoping someone has or knows someone that has a service manual or information on the proper position of the print head cleaning station. I'm pretty handy and can usually fix things however I was having so much fun taking it apart that I neglected to take pictures. The rollers and print head are controlled by optical timing (disc and strip) however the cleaning station appears to be dependent upon an assembly position. Tempted to just buy one that's broken and use it as a template for reassembling however who knows if the one I buy has been tinkered with. Got a bit long here, I have watched various YouTube videos however none of them show where the park position of the cleaning station is. Thanks in advance for any help... CK P.S. of course, the printer quit working immediately after I purchased new HP print cartridges. |
