Mock (2/10)
Let's mock our feelings out, shall we.
Assumptions: 1. HC Andy Reid and GM Brett Veach are retained. 2. TE Travis Kelce retires. 3. The Chiefs re-work QB Patrick Mahomes' contract, partially extending him and lowering his cap number from his currently-gargantuan $66.2m cap hit. 4. The Chiefs extend: OG Joe Thuney, DE George Karlaftis, CB Trent McDuffie 5. The Chiefs re-sign: WR Marquise Brown 1 year, $4m; DE Charles Omenihu 1 year, $8m. 6. The Chiefs re-sign to minimal deals: RB Samaje Perine, WR Justin Watson, WR Mecole Hardman, DT Mike Pennel, DE Malik Herring, P Matt Araiza 7. The Chiefs tender the following RFAs: LB Jack Cochrane, OG/C Mike Caliendo, CB Nazeeh Johnson 8. The Chiefs let walk: QB Carson Wentz, RB Kareem Hunt, WR DeAndre Hopkins, WR JuJu Smith-Schuster, OT D.J. Humphries, OG Trey Smith, DT Tershawn Wharton, DT Derrick Nnadi, DT Marlon Tuipulotu, DE Joshua Uche, LB Nick Bolton, S Justin Reid, LS James Winchester 9. The Chiefs sign the following free agents: QB Zach Wilson (Broncos), OT Cam Robinson (Vikings), DT Javon Kinlaw (Jets) 10. The Draft: 1. TE Harold Fannin, Jr., Bowling Green 2. RB Kaleb Johnson, Iowa 3 (Sneed). LB Barrett Carter, Clemson 3. S Billy Bowman, Jr., Oklahoma 4. OG Connor Colby, Iowa 7 (Hardman). S Craig Woodson, California 7 (compensatory). DT Jahvaree Ritzie, North Carolina The roster: QB: Mahomes, Wilson RB: Pacheco, Johnson, Perine, Steele WR: Rice, Worthy, Brown, Watson, Hardman, Remigio TE: Gray, Fannin, Wylie, Hendershot LT: Robinson, Morris LG: Thuney, Suamataia C: Humphrey, Nourzad RG: Caliendo vs. Colby RT: Taylor, Morris DE: Omenihu, Anudike-Uzomah DT: Jones, Kinlaw, Ritzie DT: Pennel, Lovett DE: Karlaftis, Danna, Herring WLB: Carter, Jones MLB: Tranquill, Cochrane SLB: Chenal, Cochrane CB: McDuffie, Watson, Williams, Roland-Wallace, Johnson S: Hicks, Cook, Bowman, Conner, Woodson K: Butker P: Araiza LS: some guy |

If Calliendo is the starting right guard next year, we won't win the division.

And Robinson is far from the best option at LT. That’s still an ugly OL.

I can't see them spending big on Robinson in the FA market. He's about the only guy who will get there who would be a name, but he's been too inconsistent.
For my thinking, if you're committing that type of cash in free agency, you're better off spreading it around a bit more, and freeing up some draft capital to go up in round 1 for your guy. If you can.

This is probably unpopular but I'm iffy on extending Thuney. He's at that age already. He's been rock solid but the Patriots were the Patriots because they knew when to get out.

Paying Omenihu 8 million a year would be insane.

Dude blabs constantly on Twitter about getting his respect but he’s never once put together a complete season to prove he deserves a large contract and he just pulled a Dee Ford.

I only want to see drafts that have us moving up for an LT. I think it's time we find Mahomes the LT that will be protecting his blinside for the next ten years.
Trade our first this year and next, move up for Connerly or Banks. I think an offensive line of Connerly/Banks, Thuney, Creed, Suamatia, Taylor would play next year. |

I have zero interest in considering anything that includes Cam Robinson in it. Sorry, but that's just how I feel about it. I'd rather roll with Suamataia and Morris again. At least they might develop.
I don't mind Kinlaw but I feel like Wharton and him are pretty close and Wharton already knows the defense. He really took a step this year, I'd like to see him get a 3-year deal here. Kinlaw is more of a pass rusher but if we did go elsewhere, I like Bobby Brown III as a NT from the Rams. As for Fannin, what a shit pick in my eyes in round 1. Mason Taylor and Elijah Arroyo are the next two TEs after Loveland and it's not close for me. Fannin is like that H-Back type similar to Gray that I wouldn't even draft at this point. You follow that up with what would be a pretty great draft. Man, you gotta fix the rest though. I do feel like we need to somehow add 2 LBs this offseason, whether that's re-signing Bolton and drafting one, or whatever combo. Have to hedge for the cliff Tranquill may have went over and he's not going to be here beyond 2025 IMO. |

No way Hollywood re signs for just $4 million dollars.
Not a big fan of any of this...does not seem to really fill our needs, and at the end of the day the team is worse, not better.
