Mock (12/28)
Well, I lost my previous one due to a saving error, so you're not getting any explanations on this one.
Assumptions: 1. Chiefs finish 12-4, beat Texans then lose in OT in New England. Reid, Dorsey, Smith all retained. 2. ILB Derrick Johnson does not retire, and will return like Justin Houston did this week. 3. RB Jamaal Charles renegotiates a contract down to 2 years, $4m; P Dustin Colquitt renegotiates his contract down to 2 years, $5m. 4. S Eric Berry is re-signed for 4 years, $44m ($19m guaranteed). 5. The Chiefs tender the following players: FB Trey Millard, WR Albert Wilson, S Daniel Sorensen, K Cairo Santos, LS James Winchester. 6. The following players walk in free agency: QB Nick Foles, RB Knile Davis, OG Mike Person, NT Dontari Poe, DE Kendall Reyes, DE Jarvis Jenkins 7. The following players are cut: FB Anthony Sherman, TE Ross Travis, OLB Frank Zombo, ILB Terrance Smith, CB Kenneth Acker 8. The Chiefs sign QB EJ Manuel (Bills) for two years; TE Anthony Fasano (Titans) for 1 year; NT Chris Baker (Redskins) for four years. 9. The Chiefs bring in 4 compensatory picks: a 4th (Sean Smith), a 5th (Chase Daniel), and two 6ths (Donald Stephenson & Tyvon Branch). On with the show: 1.28. OG Dan Feeney, Indiana The Chiefs are satisfied with their roster everywhere. They don't have a QBotF, but they don't think there's one in this draft anyway. Their skill positions are strong, their front seven lost Poe but is still very stout with the signing of Chris Harris, who should beast in this system. Their rotation at passrusher is one of the league's best, and with Terrance Mitchell turning out to be a perfect scheme fit, they have a secondary they really love. The one area the Chiefs hate, however, is their OL losing the line of scrimmage every game. Both guards need to be upgraded, and by bringing in one of my favorite guard prospects since David DeCastro and returning Parker Ehinger from injury, they've done that. 2.60. RB Samaje Perine, Oklahoma Perfect scheme fit and finalizes our RB corps as one of the best in the NFL. 3.91. S Marcus Maye, Florida Perfect scheme fit and gives us one of the best S corps in the NFL. 4.127. QB Nathan Peterman, Pittsburgh Aaron Murray clone. 4.133 (compensatory). ILB Dylan Cole, Missouri State Not a scheme fit, just a little hometown love here; Andy Reid's drafted a Missouri State Bear before anyway. 5.166. OT Will Holden, Vanderbilt 5.173 (compensatory). WR Travin Dural, LSU 6.204 (compensatory). TE Pharaoh Brown, Oregon 6.210 (compensatory). CB Deatrick Nichols, South Florida 7.250. ILB Jalen Reeves-Maybin, Tennessee Last edited by Direckshun; 12-28-2016 at 11:36 AM.. |

Eh, if we're picking 29 30 or something, I'd be ok with a guard.

I don't think Hungry Pig Poe is going anywhere. Also not sure about this pick..
4.127. QB Nathan Peterman, Pittsburgh Aaron Murray clone. Does this mean he is a bust? |

Because Zach Fulton is only playing due to injury, we should spend our only 5th year option rookie contract on a ****ing OG.
Gotcha. |

Neither is LDT. I fear he's a finesse player playing guard. That works with a lot of pulls and such, but the Chiefs run Ware a ton between the tackles. |

You guys are sleeping on Feeney. Guy controls defensive tackles in the passing game and pancakes them more than anybody else in college football in the run game.

Get some competition for LDT. Absolutely. But it doesn't have to be Super Guard that we draft, nor should it be. That 5th year option is a huge deal, and it makes your 1st rounders all the more valuable if you hit on them. It's going to make a huge difference down the road in terms of the cap when we try to maneuver around and re-sign some of our young guys. You were saying the same shit about Cameron Irving two years ago, and while he's a fine player, he's not Marcus Peters. Not every pick is going to be Marcus Peters, but what if we get a consistent stream of Dee Ford-type players in the first round? That would be huge. And we'd want them in the spots that matter the most. |
