Best On-Field Developments This Year For The Chiefs

Let's set aside the off-field development such as the toppling of a terroristic regime that has controlled Arrowhead with an iron fist for two decades, and the possible overthrow of a hopelessly inept coaching staff that has produced a horrific record of of underachievement and incompetence.

On the field, what are the five best developments in 2008?

Poll forthcoming, but it'll take a little while.

Since I'm a glass half empty kind of guy, let me point out where we need improvement. Frankly I don't think any of the new guys really distinguished themselves on the oline, but the jury is still out on a couple. I think that Tony G. will be dealt in the off season. We need some big help on the Dline and at MLB. Getting people back to their natural positions will help.

I only voted for things that might contribute to an eventual SB win a few years down the road.

The emergence of Tyler Thigpen as a QB (He may or may not be the answer, but he's at least a backup with an outside chance of developing into something special. OTOH, if his play results in us not acquiring a franchise QB, and he ends up plateauing short of great, this could be a huge set back).

Duane Bowe proves he's not a fluke.

Brandon Albert plays well his rookie year.

Flowers emerges as a strong looking CB.

Carr emerges as a strong looking CB. (Not as convinced about this one).

Some other good things may have happened (continued development of Tank?) that aren't quite obvious yet.

When you start looking for tangible areas of improvement, it gets really hard to identify very many.

My face eventualy did thawed after attending the 9 degree ice bowl the other day. With enough time I may be able to use my hands again too.

Other then those benefits, I don't see an awful lot to be high on. We got two good olinemen out of six (not good). We got one good linebacker out of three. We got no pass rush from the interior line or the ends. We got an aging HoF TE and two number two recievers.

Oh wait!!! We got a great punter and good coners. I think most franchizes would love to build a team on those two cornerstone positions.

I didn't choose it as one of my five and it may seem fairly inconsequential in the grand scheme of things, but Cox looks like a legit fullback. So, we've got that goin' for us.
