Best Memory at Kauffman
We love our Chiefs, and I think many here love the Royals.
Please tell your story…. What are your favorite Royals wins? What stories can you share about your time at TSC? I have so many memories…. I was maybe 9 years old, and it was field day getting photos on the field…. My jackass older brother didn’t give me and my friend a ticket…. So we were lost on the concourse…. Willie ripped a triple in his first AB…. Little 9 year old me went to “fan accommodations” My dad found me and my buddy Matt, and we went to our seats, and my dad scolded my older brother… I was at the game when Bo got his first homer. I still have the scorecard. I saw George’s last game at Kauffman, kissing the plate… Was at the Astros game when we came back in game two with my best friends. My mom took me to a game on my 21st birthday against the Mariners and Randy Johnson…. Went to Lawrence for drinks, went back to the airport area, slept for a couple hours, and went to Hawaii for a second 21st birthday with mom. And this year, me and my buddy Keith saw the Royals win in the 9th… I have so many more memories, but let’s talk! |

Very tough. So many games, years, memories that I’ve probably forgotten several. But a few that immediately come to mind:
2014-15 run is so special. Attended The Wild Card game, and secured postseason ticket package through Royals for the remainder of the ‘14 playoffs. Then had partial season ticket package for the 2015 season. Engaged to wife in our season tickets, with her engagement ring a surprise on Salvador Perez’ arm for his bobblehead giveaway day. Again fortunate to enjoy attending nearly every game in the ‘15 playoffs, did sell a few of our postseason tickets since we travelled to Mexico before returning in time for the World Series. Took my pops to ‘15 WS Game 1 victory over Mets, and went nuts when Alex Gordon tied it up with the epic bottom of the 9th homer. Thanks to also attending all three ‘14 World Series games in San Francisco, I was able to attend nine consecutive World Series games from 2014 to 2015. So blessed to experience it all before moving away from KC in 2017. |

I left KC in mid/late 1978 so my opportunities were limited. My favorite memory was being there for the game 2 win in the 1976 ALCS. I don't remember much about the game except for the fact that the crowd was pretty intense.

My favorite. We sat 1st row in the sonic slam innings 7-8 years ago. My daughter got on tv. It wasn’t some short shot of her. A pretty long video of her sucking her fingers. Still cracks me up.

Years and years and years ago I went with my dad and we had lower bowl seats. I was probably <10 years old. My dad pointed a few rows head and said “see that guy there? That’s John Riggins.” This was when he was at the height of his career. I got an autograph.
Years later, he got one of those season ticket passes - buy 1 season ticket and get 4 aeats to every 4th game. The seats were on the club level. Took a date there one night and 4 people came in late and sat next to us. 2 guys who were pretty drunk nd 2 gorgeous women. I mean, just drop dead make your teeth hurt women. They left after bout 4 innings. It was Joe Walsh and someone from his band. They had a concert the next night. Walsh was just absolutely wasted. Didn’t get an autograph. But had a fun time with my date so that counts for something. |

Wow, it has been a long time ago, but one time I had my family in the car, going through the parking lot and George Brett was obviously in a rush. We had a minor incident where we were obviously in his way. He was in his Porsche and in a hurry, maybe late. I will never forget the "get the **** out of my way" look on his face.
Lots of good memories watching the Royals. Steve Busby had pitched a one hitter one night we were there and was pulled for a relief pitcher late. I was pissed and dumbfounded. |

I have so many awesome memories of that stadium. While this one might not be my favorite, it definitely stands out to me. I was there for the Kevin Appier game in ‘93 when he took a no-hitter into the 7th against the Rangers. The excitement was off the charts. That was until Raphael Palmeiro hit a solo shot to right and the Royals lost 1-0. That set up several years of Royals baseball disappointments.

1986/87... just after the epic Royals league win. I was ~10 years old. Sitting out past first base with my Dad and my uncle during our yearly summer KC vacation. Some woman ran onto the field and took off her top. My dad leaned over and covered my eyes while telling me what was happening. My uncle grabbed me from my dad and held me up to see the field, and I could see the streaker's titties. I gained a great deal of appreciation for my uncle that weekend.....

Game 1 of the 2015 World Series. I got two tickets from my job, and I took my lifelong best friend.
In the bottom of the first, I said Escobar was going to lead off with a triple. My friend said, F that, he is hitting a home run. My friend didn't buy his own beer until extra innings. When Gordon hit the game tying HR, it's the loudest I have ever heard the K (I was at Game 6 in 1985 but I was a teenager, and don't remember how loud it was when he was safe at first) and it may have been as loud as Arrowhead the moment fans thought it had a chance to get out. What an incredible game. Also, I remember in the late 70s & early 80s sitting in the upper deck chanting Aaaaaa Ooooooo and watching Clint Hurdle play when he was so damn high everyone could tell. |

Game 7 World Series 1985. 11-0 rout of the hated Cardinals.
