I loved Bo Jackson so much. I’ve hated everything Raider my whole life, but still had Bo’s Nikes with the 34 on the heels. Probably still the greatest athlete of all time.

Terrence Gore was almost as athletic as Bo Jackson. But Gore just couldn’t play baseball.

That might explain why he’s not going into the Royals hof.

Most of these Bo Jackson stories are hyperbole. Gore had 43 SBs and CS 9. Jackson 82 SBs and 32 CS. Thats a bunch to be caught stealing and a much worse ratio than Gore. Thar is just one example. Picked a random athletic guy nobody cares about out of the air. You could do that with a bunch of players.

Bo Jackson was a great athlete. But people love to embellish and make him out as if he was the best athlete ever. There have been plenty of guys as good or better athletes than him.

Jackson one of the more overrated players there has been because people back then just went into a frenzy about the two way sport thing. They did the same thing with Deion Sanders. Kyler Murray could have been a 1st round pick in baseball and football as well and literally nobody gives a shit. Nowadays you just pick a sport.

This might be the worst take you've ever had here. And that's saying something because you've had A LOT of bad takes.

29% caught stealing rate Bo Jackson.

18% caught stealing rate Gore. And Gore was put in the game literally to only steal bases so there was no surprise factor to help him be more successful.

And Gore is just some random athletic guy I picked out of the air.

But Bo Jackson ran up a wall! I one time saw him out run a Ferrari. He jumped over a two story building! My dads buddies grandpa said he saw him throw out a guy standing in Utah and home plate in California!

These stories just keep getting more embellished every year. Its like how every year the fish you caught gets bigger.

I missed Bo Jackson's first major league home run, because I was in the commissary getting another load of Cokes to sell in the stands, but I'll never forgot the sound in Royals Stadium when he got his first outfield assist, versus the Twins on September 9, 1986, five days before the homer. Mickey Hatcher was at first base when Hrbek hit a single to right field, where Bo was playing. Hatcher tried to make it to third and as it became apparent that there might be a play, the Royals Stadium crowd roar was the usual sort, until fans started processing the throw that Jackson made. It was incredible. It seemed to me that when Hatcher was called out, there was a moment of silence in the stands as folks were still trying to register what they just saw, and then loud cheers. Ive been to hundreds of major league games and I don't remember any other moment where the crowd roar noticeably modulated like that due to dis-****in'-belief, and the thing is, that play doesn't even get talked about when folks talk about Bo's legend, because he did so many other incredible things in his career.

That guy did things that other players simply couldn't. There's a reason why his fellow players considered him a legend and so too do those of us lucky to have seen him play.
