Saint Joe restaurants
OK, question for the St Joe planeteers... Name some "famous" St Joe restaurants(past or present) and what you would consider their "signature" item...
Maybe it is just the item you associate with them .. for instance... The Bucket Shop= beefburger Galvin's=fried chicken 36th Street= Tenderloin sandwich D&G= the Simon Kleinbrodts= scrappy beef Cordonnier's = catfish sandwich Jerre Anne's = any and every side dish NO CHAINS ALLOWED... extra credit if you have a recipe for said item! |

You must've never had a Bottoms Up tenderloin sandwich, that was a sad sad day when they closed their doors.

From my days as a kid it was also The Bucket Shop and my Aunt has the original beefburger recipe.I'd also have to give a to The Pizza Royal, been open for years and still continues to put out great thin crust pizza.
More recently famous for me(although already gone) was Beaty's BBQ,best ribs, sauce and beans I've ever had and I've had a lot.

Once a week they also served what they called the Hot Mommy Ester, the huge thick tenderloin covered in mashed potatoes and cream gravy.

Betty's Fried Chicken in Blue Springs held the crown for a long time, w/ these gems. I just don't know if it's the same quality, I think it is, it's just got a new name now. But no, couldn't contribute w/ SJ's restaurants. |

Went went to two different places. The first place had the great tenderloin sandwiches. The second (which I think was our next visit) had great stuffed mushrooms. I thought the stuffed mushroom place was the 54th Street Bar & Grill?
Either way the food at both were awesome. Wish they had more food like that up here. |

36th Street is good but pricey. Their claim to fame is Tom Selleck ate there...
Hoof and Horn is awesome, but it burned down if I am not mistaken-best items are(were) anything beef Merrick's- Subs (I know, subs can't be that good, right? They come with a dipping sauce that is freaking amazing.) |
