Today's music is mostly GARBAGE

Last night the Grammy Awards were on. I stopped watching award shows about 30 years ago for a variety of reason.

I saw some headlines this morning about the winners.

The Song of the Year is Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us"

This song is a piece of shit and how this garbage would be considered Song of the Year tells me that the music industry is another woke crap infested dump.

It is just another industry in decline.

What a joke.....

"Did you see Elvis and what he does on stage? That is disgusting and I can't believe he's allowed to perform. "

"Have you heard what they are listening to? Rock Music? I heard they talk about Satan. Can you believe that? What is happening to this country? "

"I can't believe how woke music is. Just filling their heads with crazy thoughts. "

Good to know some variation of this will be talked about by older people for as long as humans exist. The best music being whatever a person listened to growing up remains a constant theme, while whatever new music that is out when they are older always has something bad about it.

Music has always been "woke". You're right.

My biggest issue with modern pop music is that it requires absolutely no talent. Sure there's exceptions but even in the world of metal, which has generally been fairly pure, bands are using all kinds of computer-generated effects to produce music they can't reproduce live without computers.

I honestly don't mind electronic elements in music.

What bothers me about modern pop music (including corporate metal) is that far too much of it sounds almost identical. It feels like they use an algorithm to generate "new" content. If your music doesn't fit in the algorithm, you don't get any promotion.

I know it's been that way to some degree for a long time, but it has gotten worse. Just mindless junk recycled ad nauseam. People listen to it because it is easy and they don't really have any understanding of how music gets made.

Oh, I don't mind electronic elements either. I just believe that should be used to elevate good music, not to make bad music sound good.

This is a pretty accurate take. However, I think Scho’s point (and I certainly agree if this is his take) is that a lot of new music just sucks. It’s not the dance moves or the messages being portrayed, it’s just not good music. But white middle aged guy is probably not the target demographic for most of these artists so they care **** all about my opinion. Hell, the last “new” band I got into was The Killers and they’re what, 20 years old as a band?

Same for the most part. Love the Killers. They seemed to be a good bridge from the older style of "rock" to the newer style of "pop" "electro rock" type music.

Some newish sounding bands I KIND OF like are The Neighbourhood, Foster the People, Twenty One Pilots, Grouplove, Bleachers, Glass Animals...but yes most of these bands are not even very new.

This is my music I love indie rock. Should try Eyedress, he opened for glass animals when they were in kc. Also royel Otis , winnetka bowling league, and goldford.

Alt Nation is where it’s at. Unfortunately we lost alt rock in kc with 96.5 folding and 105.1 being short lived.

We like the same music.

I am a huge fan of Motown, Alternative, and Classic Rock, in that order.

I've only heard one song by Foster the People but I liked it.

The Grammys have never been a good barometer for what’s great and lasting in music have they?

Tons of snubs and acts that got overlooked.
