There are a few sites showing that we MIGHT get a comp pick for Mike Edward’s as well (7th round).

These picks are gonna be pretty damn critical. After some incredible drafts in ‘21 and ‘22, seems like ‘24 is just meh.
I think Hicks will end up being the best player, and Worthy will be useful if Mahomes can just hit him downfield more consistently. |

We might not have to trade up. There have been so many LT drafted the last couple years that some will start to slide.
I also believe that Josh Simmons will slide. The LT from Ohio State. He tore his ACL at the start of the year so he may be an option at the end of round one and he is one that is worth it. I also believe the LT from Oregon and Minnesota may be available. Both of them are very interesting prospects. The most interesting prospect to me that will be available is Ozzy Trapilo. A tackle from Boston college. At 6’7” 310 he has great size and length. He is a very athletic kid too. His pass protection is ahead of his run blocking which is what we want. But he played LT early in his career and was successful as a freshman and sophomore. The last two years he kicked over to RT so they could get their best 5 on the field. The kid playing LT couldn’t get his feet right and is only comfortable on the left side so ozzy being the good athlete he is moved over. |

The Chiefs took a swing on Morris at the end of Round 3 in 2023. They took a swing on Suamataia at the end of Round 2 in 2024. Neither of these guys worked. So if you sit back and passively wait for the guy you want in 2025, maybe he falls, or maybe you're taking another swing on another guy with traits who maybe doesn't work out. And now you've burned two picks. Unless the Chiefs really think Wanya is the guy, the most logical thing to do is to end the search once and for all. Go up and get the guy you truly believe is the solution, and end the mystery for the next few years. Wanya may be playing guard next year with either Thuney or Smith moving on, and you gotta hope Suamataia will progress enough to be a functional swing tackle. |
