Google music now live
Google's cloud based Music site is live. Supposedly you can upload up to 20,000 of your own songs to play from anywhere. They are supposed to be adding artist support where you can buy songs like iTunes but they are still in negotiation.

Yep. Unfortunately, Amazon Cloud beat 'em to the punch. I've already put quite a bit of time into uploading my stuff to Amazon.

Doesn't Amazon Cloud have a 5GB limit though? If I'm reading that right, Google Music sounds like unlimited storage.

I've got 20GB for a year because I bought an album from them. If they keep that up, I'll stick with the 20GB limit easily. If not, it's all on my HD at home anyway. I could always switch over to Google, and I'd certainly look into it.

I'll be surprised if Google does unlimited storage for free. They don't even do that for Picasa web albums.

The fine print at the bottom says "Music Beta is available free for a limited time," so I'm assuming it won't be completely free forever.

The initial cap is 20,000 SONGS.. they aren't measuring it by GBs right now.

I won't get into this. I don't own music anymore. I pay for a service and stream it. I have a box full of CDs in the basement that I haven't opened in years. On the rare occasion that I just want to hear a certain song YouTube is pretty much always there for me.

I like Pandora but I prefer to listen to a whole album at a time. Not being able to pick songs would bother me.

Pandora kind of sucks compared to having 1000's of your own songs at your fingertips everywhere you go. You don't even need to purchase those songs if you don't care about pirating.

I do care about pirating. I also discover a lot of music I didn't know I would like that way.

Having 1000's of your own songs doesn't do much for me. I have how ever many hundreds of thousands of songs that Pandora has and I pay less than the price of 3 CDs per year to get access to all of it. I'm not a huge music guy in the sense that I feel the need to control the order of specific songs to meet a mood or something like that. Primarily I listen all day to keep the noise in the office from distracting me.
