If Herm gets this team to the playoffs
what would you do? Would anybody admit that he was better than Vermeil? Would you bitch and moan? Would you think it was a fluke?

If Herm gets a 5-11 team into the playoffs, color me fucked.

He managed to back in last year but I don't see this team being as good.
If we do make the playoffs I'll be very happy for the players but I'll still think Peterson needs to go and Hermie needs to coach defense for some division III college. |

I'd do what I always do when we finish 9-7 and lose in the first round....

I had to chuckle reading this thread and I thought back to last years playoff game and the prior playoff game in 2003. In 2003, KC had opportunities to win that game -- untimely missed FG's and a uncharacteristic fumble by Holmes turned the game in Indy's favor early in the second half, but early in the game, KC was fighting back and scoring.
Last year, KC didnt get a first down until the 3rd quarter and even when the defense gave KC the ball on the 11yd line, KC couldnt score even 3 pts, all the while letting Indy, score, then score again and then score some more so that the game was pretty much over by halftime. So in my opinion both performances were horrible, but IMO, the '03 playoff game sucked slightly less than the 06 game. What does that mean for this year? Nothing, they're not making the playoffs this year and will soon be the doormat of the league by the time Herm and Carl ride off into the sunset. This teams not building anything.

Even on the last possession of the playoff game in 03 (we were down 7), on the 50 yard line, I thought we had a chance to score. I don't know if this team has the ability to come back from even a 10 point deficit. The bottom line with this team (and say what you will about the defense so far) is that the defense can't hold them off forever. They've gotten down by two scores early in both games. That's almost insurmountable for this offense.

Herm isn't better than Vermeil. Herm IS VERMEIL. He just builds/destroys the team in the opposite direction.
But in the end, half a team is still half a team. |
