Chiefs Marketing Weasels Worried About "Branding"

Got this email today from Chiefs:
Dear GBlowfish,

Thank you for your support of the Kansas City Chiefs. In an on-going effort to improve the overall fan experience we would like to ask for your participation in a survey.

Please take a moment to share your thoughts with us through this survey link by 8 a.m. (CST) on Friday, April 13, 2012. All completed surveys received by the due date will be entered into a drawing to win one of ten autographed footballs.

Your feedback is appreciated.

Sincerely,
Jayne Martin
Customer Relations Manager

The survey was all touchy feeling stuff like: Do you like the chop? The home of the Chiefs National Anthem? Warpaint? KC Wolf?

Do you see the Chiefs as representing Midwestern Values? Do you see them as a Mini Van or a Mercedes? Blah Blah Blah....

NOWHERE was there a question like: "Do you think the Chiefs marketing and advertising efforts on game day are adequate? Too much? Not Enough?

It seems like all they care about is mining season ticket holders for psychological and emotional cues to tailor their marketing campaigns. You know, sell more stuff, more propaganda, tell the fans what they most want to hear, whether its true or not.

How bout winning a frickin' playoff game guys. Huh??? How about that???

They asked questions like "On a scale of one to ten, do you see the Chiefs as Tough? Intimidating? Admired? Legendary? HELL NO....you have to WIN to EARN THAT REP.

Chiefs marketing acts like we've won five or six Lombardi trophies, when the truth is, they haven't pissed a drop since 1969. That's 43 years you marketing weasles...43 YEARS!!!!!

Damn, just win a playoff game. Just a playoff game. Just one.

I'm sure the marketing department would like a franchise QB and 11+ wins as much as we do. Sure would make their job easier. Until then, look for totally awesome videoboard presentations and slick TV ads to make you think that the total "game day experience" makes up for the lack of wins.

Well, what else do they have to market?

No kidding. It's not like they have a say on what goes on the field or can report it to the higher ups either. It's like the jackasses who chew out the ticket sales people.

Well yeah, that is all they care about. They are marketing people. They have absolutely nothing to do with the on the field product.

I bet they'd love that to happen too. It would make their jobs much easier. Can you imagine trying to sell stuff for a worthless team?

Some people do buy the crap they spew out. I think that a lot of fans DO see them as tough, intimidating, admired, and legendary. They are trying to see how many folks drank the Chiefs kool aid.

They have to act like that. They are trying to sell things man. That's their job.

You've called me out on this before and I'll address it here. There is nothing wrong with telling those folks you won't buy tickets as long as Matt Cassel is the QB. It's not like I can go to Clark Hunts mansion and talk to him or call him up. Everything said to the ticket reps gets recorded and goes yo the higher ups. The more people who turn down tickets saying it's because of Matt Cassel, the more likely it is Matt Cassel will be replaced.

It sounds like this goes to season ticket holders perhaps?

Most of them are perfectly happy with Cassel based on receipts of four years worth of tickets purchased to see him

Your argument would make sense if season ticket sales were on the rise. They aren't.
