REID: “I am not there. That is not where I am at. I can tell you what is real and that is he got to play, which was invaluable. He got the chance to be in a room with Alex Smith, which is invaluable. He loves to play the game. He got a chance to play a couple weeks ago and did a nice job with it. I am not there with anything other than that. That is what is real right now.”


Q: If Matt Nagy stays, will you keep him as the primary play caller?

REID: “I don’t know about that part. I thought he did a nice job, but I don’t know about that.”

Any pick earlier than the 50th overall pick is an overpay for Smith.

I think the Chiefs will want more than just a second rounder. I’d personally give the guy away for a 3rd if that’s all that was offered but I just want him gone.

I'd say $20.6M is a stupid amount to give for Alex. I think the Chiefs are much more interested in that than haggling over a round or 2 in the draft.

I’d say the talking heads are overvaluing a 34 year old game manager. He was 29 when the Chiefs traded for him. Maybe a team like Minnesota will overpay.

If more than one team wants Smith, who knows what he is worth to the highest bidder?

23 million to have two capable quarterbacks is the safe way to go. Next year's schedule is tough and trading Smith puts us at risk of not contending for a bye and allowing San Diego to steal the division.
