Chase Daniel breaks down the SB

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAVP...el=ChaseDaniel

This is a tough watch, and Chase loves the Chiefs, but as he goes through it, basically he admits this game was on Pat.

Yes, there's times when the protection broke down, but he points out lots of perfectly good pockets where Pat doesn't make the right read, or is looking at the pressure...when there's really not any, or he just pulls the ball down to wide open WR's.

He also points out something a LOT of posters here have pointed out. Pat's mechanics have regressed. And it wasn't until this breakdown that I really saw how bad it's gotten. There's times when his body and footwork are just so bad that there's no way he can make an accurate throw.

So while we do need a left tackle, the hardest part about this watch is....this was really on Pat. Some of the early RPO play calls were just fine. It was just Pat playing the worst game of his career.

Really odd. Just really odd to watch him play this bad, have mechanics this poor, not find the open reads...and Phills NEVER changes their defense the whole game. It was shell coverage the whole time, no blitzes, and just playing zone.

Really wild to watch.

There was an early throw in the game...the one where Mahomes scrambled left, reversed field, scrambled right, and launched a near int on the sideline.....he was tackled and his head slammed to the turf HARD, basically bounced off the turf.

I thought for sure he'd be concussed but I guess he showed no visible signs. Still, following that play I believe is when the uncharacteristic ints were thrown that all but sealed the game. I wish I had a gif of the play.

Watched all three breakdowns last night. Utterly brutal. Warner's review was really rough. The last time he ripped a coach/gameplan/play designs like that was when he reviewed Baker back in 2019, and 95% of the negative comments he made were directed at Freddie Kitchens and his gameplan/play-calling/play designs.

bottom line, Pat played probably his worst game of his career, certainly his worst playoff game of his career, but Andy and his offensive staff didn't do him a lot of favors either.

He should be ripping them.

It was 34-0. I wouldn't expect a score like that if the Giants were playing in place of the Chiefs. It's beyond embarrassing to have a performance like that in such an important game.

Yup. So while Chase isn't a HOF guy like Kurt, you got two QB's breaking it down and seeing the same thing.

The line play was not good, but it was really just Pat playing the worst game of his career.

And even more, was that there was plenty of plays where he did have a perfectly clean pocket, and was just staring down the philly front 4.

The RPO stuff early worked. And they got away from it.

So yes the coaching staff shit the bed too, and we do need a left tackle, but Pat played so bad that even a hall of fame left tackle ain't saving that game.

Three. JTS saw the same things.

And the RPO stuff wasn't that great either. It was very effective vs. BUF, but I knew it wouldn't be as effective vs. PHI, and I hoped that RPOs wouldn't be the core of the Chiefs' offensive gameplan in the SB, but it was.

But really a lot of issues were related to the play designs themselves. Warner made great points about how the designs weren't putting the DB/S tough decision-making spots. Which surprised me, since that's what Andy does best. But in this game that just didn't happen, repeatedly, for whatever reason(s). Maybe that was on Nagy's gameplanning, maybe that was more on Andy. Whatever the case, that aspect of Andy's offebsive scheming wasn't evident in this SB.

It was Pat’s worst game, ever, sucks it was in the SB for a 3-peat.

Hope he’s taking it well.

Yup. So when you factor in a BAD game plan, with no adjustments at any point in the game (which is weird), with Pat then playing his worst game maybe of his whole career, it was a bad day.

Both guys made note of the times that Pat had good pockets but still made shit plays or just stared down the pressure.

Chase even had a few that Kurt pointed out the same "just step up right there, the pocket is good" and Pat just shits his pants.

It was weird and hard to watch because, it was the most out of character game ever. But ......with that said....we saw glimpses of that all season and then people tried to put some deodorant on it (cough Clay cough) and say "we're 14-1 stop being a doomer".

The thing most of us kept pointing out all season was the thing that showed up biggest in that game. And that was, Pat just playing like ass against a really good team.

Joe Burrow has managed what, one career second half touchdown pass when facing that kind of pressure in 7 playoff games? We saw how Lamar did against us last year, but not even Tom Brady could hold strong when facing that pressure from the Giants. He started hearing ghosts and skipping balls to receivers throughout Super Bowl 42 and gave the Patriots a disastrous safety in Super Bowl 46.

So basically, if we’re asking Patrick to do something against this kind of pressure that no quarterback has ever won against in a Super Bowl, it seems like a stretch to say the loss is entirely on him. Did he still have one of the worst games of his career? 100%. Both of these things can be true.
I just hope we can get a O line so Mahomes doesn’t get career ending injured before long
