I saw KC was listed as his most likely destination by whatever media outlet, but I’m fairly certain every top FA or trade-able player get’s projected to KC for clicks.
That said, I’d love to have him! The perfect deal? Man, if we could get him for a 1st & 3rd this year + a 2nd next that’d be pretty solid. 1st, 2nd, & 3rd was the stated comp in the article. |

Just speaking on trade comp... When we traded for Clark, it was a 1st, 2nd, and swap of 3rds. Clark was coming into his absolute prime after his age-25 season and off a season equivalent to an average Garrett season. Of course, Clark never really looked like "that guy" again but it doesn't change what he was at the time of the trade.
Garrett is coming off of his age 29 season which is a substantial difference. Despite Garrett's longer proof of consistency, it doesn't also change that he's going to be 30. Do I think Garrett will produce at a high level for at least another 4 years, possibly 5? Yes. Does that mean the compensation should be more than for Clark? No, not in my mind. You would ideally want to include player assets in a trade with Cleveland rather than all draft picks but we don't have too many tradeable assets that the Browns would want. Throwing away a lot of picks when you NEED a LT is difficult to do. Jawaan Taylor? No, they have Conklin. It also creates a massive hole. Mike Danna? Might take a 3rd away and change it to a 5th or something like that, doesn't really move the needle. Jaylen Watson? This is a guy I think you can throw out there and easily take a 3rd away but probably not a 2nd nor a 1st. George Karlaftis? No, you don't trade away an ascending pass rusher to get a pass rusher. The goal is to improve the DLine to a point it's unstoppable by going for Garrett. Rashee Rice? This is the guy I could see having a ton of value to Cleveland and in a trade but do we really want to give away a 23-year-old star in the making? Only if you think there might be more character issues with him down the road (I'm not sure but I'm not comfortable with it) All in all, I'd trade Rashee ONLY IF I thought character would continue to be an issue. I don't know the answer, I'm not privy to all the information with him. Without Rashee being the basis on our side and it being draft picks, it would have to be a trade after I saw how FA played out concerning LT. If I don't have a real solution at LT, I could not unload top picks for Garrett. So, as much as I would love to have Garrett in Chiefs' red, I just don't see it as a very realistic endeavor. |

I think there's very little chance the Chiefs would be a serious contender for him, but I do think its interesting to think about. Mainly because on the face of it, if you give up 1sts in the next two drafts, I think you are a much better team in the next 2 years at least (longer than the next couple of years and it is a bit harder to assess). Draft picks are always an unknown and MG is very much money in the bank.
I do think the looming tackle issue is the main problem, but I also think there's very little chance they draft a tackle in the upcoming draft that they expect to start. |

Good thorught exercise. There would have to be SERIOUS issues to quit on Rice. He's ****ing incredible on a 2nd round rookie contract. If it would have been a Hunt type situation it would have already happened. |

I love Rice just as much as anyone, buuuut he was out all year this year and has a looming 6 game suspension next. I think he’s a very very solid WR, but don’t think he’ll ever be a star. I’m not totally opposed to the idea of trading him to CLEV.

That's 1632/11 over 17 games. Odds are defenses change the way they play us to take him away, but **** he was effective. All in his 2nd season. He's still got room to grow. He's not untouchable. But in my book he's close. |

The counter argument would be that there’s a lot of WRs in the league that can get you 1k yards, but how many DEs are there that can get you 15 sacks. |

Yeah, this is definitely not happening. We need tackles.
