Most NFL owners don’t really care about trying to win championships. Oh they would take one if it fell into their laps, but they don’t care about actually trying to win one. The Falcons are a great example. You don’t bring in washed, hurt and old Kirk Cousins and Raheem Morris to win a title. You bring them in to go 8-9/9-8, to keep your fans sucked in all season and to turn a profit. Since that is the MO of most of these guys, mediocre QBs and mediocre HCs will always get paid.
