49ers LT Trent Williams is holding out

3 years left on his deal, scheduled to make $20M in 2024.

Yeah, I’m glad we traded for Orlando Brown instead of signing a HOF LT. We sure dodged that bullet!!!

Purdy is going to get exposed if silverback isn’t there. He covers up all of his deficiencies.

It worked out perfectly for us and now we have a rookie LT for cheap. I absolutely would not go back and sign him if we could.

But to answer your question, the other guys mentioned don’t have the luxury oftentimes. They’re the strength of their team or very close to it. What’s Purdy? Like the fifth, sixth most important player on the 49ers? Lamar Jackson is THE guy in Baltimore. Burrow has a strong 1, 2 in Chase and Higgins that may even be better than the combo of Deebo and Aiyuk but Kittle/CMC shits on Mixon/whoever the Bengals TE is. The Bengals also have a notoriously bad offensive line. They had a backup QB come in and play out of his mind and they still didn’t sniff the playoffs.

The situations just aren’t comparable.

I was actually more so referring to the 2018 Super Bowl. Scoring only 3 points in the big game sucks balls.

But when you take two different teams to the NFCCG, you buy yourself a lot longer leash.
I see your point, but with QBs they get the praise when they do well and criticism when doing poorly. Jackson had arguably the best team overall last year and still couldn't get it done at home. Excuses for him need to stop. He can't get praise and MVPs for the regular season and without getting equal criticism for failing to sustain that in the playoffs.

With Burrow, he tends to not do as much in the postseason as people think. He gets a ton of credit for what he defense has done for him vs him beating Mahomes in some sort of shootout. Had it not been for that defense and an epically poor half of playoff football from Mahomes, Burrow would be 0-2 against the Chiefs in the playoffs.

I agree with the 3 points in a SB. I will say that is one of the most brilliant defensive gameplans in SB history and a masterclass on how to play defense. Belechick put clown shoes on McVay and that whole offense and it was stunning to see.

Yeah, I’m a bit of a Lamar truther and even I can’t disagree. He’s got a serious issue with being able to win by throwing from the pocket in the postseason. In crunch time when teams take away that option (or his coaching does), he’s failed time and again to make the big plays.

I’ll give him one more year to get it right when it matters most. He’s “only” 27. Peyton was 27 when he got his first playoff win as well.

I also agree with this. Burrow has mostly been impressive in the regular season.

He’s also still pretty young. I think we’ll learn a lot about both him and Lamar after this season.

If Suamataia is a consistently good(ish) LT, I’ll take all the pains in the ass of OBJ and Smith over signing Williams and him trying to pull this holdout shit on us a week before our 3peat season

He's 36. I legit thought he was 40 or older.

Yeah, Veach navigated that minefield with him and OBJ like a salty submarine commander.

It was all a ploy to get the Bengals to think we valued him.
