I care about records that directly impact the entertainment value of what I'm watching.... not shit that happened decades before I was born (which of course goes for the Chiefs' first SB victory).

I'm probably older than you so I may care more about history since I've seen the NFL evolve quite a bit. I sometime watch footage of really old football to see how the game has changed.

If you are a Chiefs or Patriots season ticket holder, I can certainly see you caring a lot about your favorite team hosting AFC championship games and playoff games in general. But as someone usually watching the playoffs on TV, I'd rather watch a road playoff win in AFC championship game than a home win. Now obviously first round byes and home playoff games make SB appearances much more likely so from that perspective, you root for the #1 seed.

The Patriots have done it 3 times in their entire history but I liked them winning road AFC championship games more than home championships simply since it is harder to do. More than a few long time Patriots fans like the win against the Dolphins in the AFC championship games more than most of the SB wins. The realistic fans knew it would take a miracle to beat the Bears so that blowout loss hardly spoiled beating the Dolphins.

As for the Packers, they had 6 championships from 29 to around 1944 before not really winning again until 60's. A few people would still be alive for those early championships but even if they were not, I wouldn't devalue them too much simply based upon date. It is like a historian devaluing George Washington. I can see just counting those championships 1/2 credit because a lot less teams, NFL football wasn't integrated or as popular as it later became but players, especially quarterbacks and receivers, from the mid 70's, may want to discredit everything starting in around 1979 for their own reasons. Even if you discount Green Bay's early championships by 1/2, they still get 10 which is impressive since it was done in Green Bay and not a place like NY.

I won't name drop by my father grew up with someone who played 2 championship seasons with the Green Bay packers in the 1960's. Still some people around that vividly remember those Packer teams from the 60's if they saw them play.

The other thing which some people in their 40's, 50's and even 60's may not appreciate, Joe Montana's first championship is pretty much closer to Green Bay's first championship in 1929 to whoever wins this upcoming season. Plenty of Chiefs fans still remember Montana in a KC uniform.

OK my math was off there but basic point still kind of holds. It is true for their 1939 championship. And they also won a championship in 1944.
1981(49ers)-1939(GB) = 42.
2023(?)-1981(49ers) = 42.

FTR, I was just pointing out the bullshit of "the mods are deciding these days"... we didn't decide shit. No promises were made (ffs ). Nobody got involved in making decisions.

One day I looked through the discussion and put dates beside what was being talked about (in other words, summarizing/organizing the discussion).

I can't help it if it gets blown up to looking like an act of Congress, but was just pointing out that it's not.
