Is backing into a parking spot worth the effort?

Is it worth the time and effort to back into a parking spot?

Has this always been a thing? It seems like I've noticed it more and more over the last five to 10 years. Did back up cameras make it more widespread?

I don't seem to remember this practice 25 years ago.

I think it's obvious that traditional park front end, back up to leave saves time.

Is the risk of backing into a car driving by while leaving enough of a concern to start doing this practice?

I used to work for a guy who was the god of parallel parking. He drove a mid-80s SS Monte Carlo, and he could pull into ANY spot in three moves, quickly and without hesitation, without tapping either vehicle or hitting the curb. Ever. And he'd do that shit into a ridiculously tight spot and when done he'd just have a couple of inches clearance. It was amazing to watch. Boom, boom, done. That shit would have taken me half an hour and I'd have mashed every car involved.

I'll back into these too if the parking lot isn't busy. Backing is a breeze when you use your mirrors properly and I prefer looking ahead to looking behind when I pull out

I have been umpiring baseball for the last 14 years and we always park backed in for a few reasons:

1. If we dress in the parking lot, it gives us a semi-confined space to do it in.
2. If you open your doors, you can piss in a bottle or nude up without being seen.
3. And most important - the quick getaway if the fans are a-holes.
