Chiefs defensive improvements after eight games

Chiefs have made strides. We just need to keep getting a little better and get healthy. Flame away.

Won't matter; CP will still hate our defense, because "not top 5," "we spent all that $$$ and picks, we should be the '85 Bears," so "Fire Andy and fire Veach!!!"

Nevermind just how pathetic our defense was last year.

Hell, there are people on here that want Sutton and/or Todd Haley back . . .

But I agree with you. At the beginning of the season I said that our defense could be in the top 17 or so overall by season's end, and that we'd have a better idea of what we had by Week 8-10. By my estimates, we're pretty much on pace.

In spite of the injuries.

I posted before the season started that I thought we'd finish top 15.

I think that's entirely possible.

I agree. We'd have to get some DL guys back soon (can't run a 5 man rotation for very long), and obviously getting Pat back sooner rather than later would make a big difference. But it's possible that our defense could end up 15th or higher by season's end.

Defense is definitely improved. Even the run D is better now that they're putting Ragland in there. Only major issue now is covering RBs.

Cool.

I'm starting to get a semi about our secondary. Here's hoping they keep making progress. It's very easy to build a top defense when you already have a lockdown secondary.

Good article on the athletic from Nate Taylor about the defensive shift the last couple weeks

Basically the secondary is playing well and has allowed Spags to play more aggressive up front. The Lbers are coming forward and being aggressive. It may lead to more issues but playing aggressive will also lead to more turnovers I think.

Sprinkle in some odaniel and Lee on passing downs and go from there

Yeah I read that too. The goal is to get the QB off his mark and to move in the pocket while making decisions quickly.

I love that Spags is being aggressive and dictating the play instead of Sutton’s read and react bullshit.

That is why I think Jones is expendable. If your secondary is playing well, you can fire those LB’s and use twists/stunts from the defense to manufacture confusion and pressure.

It’s exactly what the Patriots do.

With Jones....it just adds more pressure.

Problem is when you don’t get there you can have a lot of issues exposed.

Getting there woth 4 is always superior but usually tougher.
