VARSITY
-- as a child, what grocery store was the first you remember being in....? Also,

...what food-items do you remember your parents or guardian carting?

I think mine was Milgram's on Seven Hwy. across from Zarda Dairy.

Mom bought Seitz Hot-dogs and Mac-n-cheese loaf.

Also, bagged cereal. We were poor like the dickens.

Can you share your story?

Thank you.

I guess my first store memory was the IGA in Edwardsville. I wanted a candybar. Mom said no. I tried to pocket. Mom caught me, made me apologize.

We moved to Bonner and I ended up playing T-ball for a team sponsored by Bonner IGA that was right next to a Ben Franklin. Both closed on Sundays as I recall. Maybe the IGA was open but only 10-6 or something like that.

Bonner IGA had a Tackle/Bait shop in the front for a while and next to that was their 'arcade' with 3-4 videogames.

Man, I ate many a cheeseburger or 1106er, and suzy-qs in at that place. It might give you the squirts afterwards, but they were damn good.
